Why is it so damn hard to kill anyone in this game? I've clocked in about 160 hours into the MP and I'm Colonel 2, and I'm still finding it very hard to kill people. I played Bad Company 2 and even though I put less hours into that game, I could easily go right up the scoreboards, and have a K/D mostly above 2.00. In BF3, it's nigh impossible to kill anyone without them running away and taking cover.

First of all, the guns have too much recoil. I only ever play using high ROF weapons like F2000 and AEK-971, and in this game, the reticle starts climbing vertically madly before I've even fired my 3rd shot. Aim Assist is non-existent here. The crosshair don't even lock in for an 1/8th of a second. It's free-aim all the way through. How do I control this recoil? The recoil makes full-auto completely useless at any range except 5 meters or less. In Bad Company 2, I went full-auto with my F2000 RDS, and I never had problems except on long ranges. What's wrong with the dude's hand, isn't he strong enough to hold his gun properly in BF3? Even with handguns, the second shot is fired 1 foot above the previous shot.

Then, I can empty an entire magazine on a person, and he'll run away behind the overly omnipotent cover safely. When I start to run for cover, the guy will turn around and shoot me, even through the walls. Am I doing something wrong or is it EA's trash netcode? Which brings me to the point, it's impossible to kill running people for me. Either the reticle moves too slowly or too fast. Please tell me which is the optimal look sensitivity. I can fire a whole magazine at them, and they won't die and then shoot me through cover. Why is that whenever I'm running, I HAVE TO DIE? And while using vehicles, why does no one die even if I shoot a tank shell a few inches to the side, but a Humvee gunner can kill me with 3 shots?

Also, whenever I shoot at people, they'll take forever to die, but they can end me in a fraction of a second from sniper range using a sub-machine gun. And whenever there is someone a meter ahead of me, he'll run around me and kill me while I'm shooting straight at his face? Talking about sniping, why is there so much sway? The guy can sprint forever, but can't hold his breath for 10 seconds? And why is the scope only like 1/5th of the whole screen? In BC2, it was around 3/4th of the screen and very open.

I'm not rambling here or anything, but could someone please help me with these cheap gun mechanics? Can anyone tell me what am I doing wrong? I certainly am not a noob, because I've played the BF series for a total of near a thousand hours, and neither am I a CoD fanboy, because the only CoD I own is MW1 and I don't like that immature shooter series at all.

That's exactly the problem I've never have had with any game before. I can't get used to it no matter how hard I try.

Battlefield 3 is much more stragiest than Call of Duty; you can't just pick a powerful gun and run around like a headless chicken and expect to kill everyone.

I've never really taught before, but here's some tips that I utilize myself

When firing on full auto, try pushing the control stick down as if you were looking down to better control your recoil. That, or fire in short-controlled bursts.

When somebody runs behind cover, don't try to get around the way they did. If somebody runs into a building for cover, find a different entrance instead of using the one they entered through. Most of the time when I'm chasing someone they turn around and wait for me to follow so they can easily take me down. By going in another way you regain the element of surprise.

I can't really help you with the sensitivity, you'll just have to practice and get used to it. Sorry.

As for tanks, when you're shooting at an infantryman while in a tank, fire your cannon first then switch to the secondary turret using the LMG/HMG specialization.

The reason people are taking forever to die might be because you may be missing. Almost every gun in BF3 can kill in just a couple of bullets, even pistols. Try my above tip and learn how to handle the recoil.

I hope some of these helped. Let me know if you need any more tips.

control your recoil. A lot of console shooters have aim assist (like COD & HALO), but BF doesn't have much aim assist so it will be harder. This game actually takes skill to kill. It was hard the first few days I played, but now i'm doing pretty good.

You must be blind, because I clearly never compared this game to CoD, and I clearly stated that I do not like CoD. Get your troll-crap straight bro.

also are you playing CQ mode? maybe try out TDM and you can test out a bunch of guns on smaller maps. I personally love the AEK and drop people pretty quick, but it does depend on distance. The recoil in this game is the reason why I enjoy bf3. If you learn how to control the recoil, you will destroy anyone just holding down the trigger.

Stick with it man. You will get better.

Run and gun is the best option. I never sit in one spot and I get tons of kills.

[QUOTE="jack00"]You must understand that BF3 has retarded recoil and crappy hit detection. But besides that, my only advise is don't hold the trigger, use small burst with most weapons, then when you get the feel you can start using longer sprays. Check your mini map alot. Find the right scope for the weapon/map you're playing. I use most of the time KOBRA except in close quarters maps where I like to use iron sight. Otherwise it's just you who has to get better... I played 600hours+ and nailed more then 60 000 scrubs, I end up in the top of my team only after a few minutes of joining a game and pretty much always have the killing machine award at the end of the matches. I'm a run and gun mostly, I barely take notice of capping flags in CQ, just go for the kills to practice. Try 32-48 players matches, you can get lots of people to shoot at.

Doesn't PS3 cap out at 24 players in a match? Anyways thanks for the tip, but that's exactly what I've been doing since BF2 and this is the only game where I'm having problems.

That sounds too much like what a CoD player does. Doesn't fit at all into the BF series.

I have the same problems. I've become proficient in Bad Company 2 as I've become used to its style of play over the many hours I've poured into the game. But in BF3, I only seem to get worse the more I play. It certainly isn't getting any better. The recoil, to me, is one of the biggest jokes. It's why, although I'll play BF3 from time to time, I usually just stick to Bad Company 2.

Well, you could just use a shotgun. ;)

They're ridiculously good in BF3. So much so I've gotten quite a few hate messages from other players because of it.

I always thought COD players like to camp and spawn kill.

In BF3 you can't stay in one spot for too long. Especially if your playing rush or conquest.

According to bf3 gun stats, f2000 has twice the bullet spread when compared to most other assault rifles and aek971 has 1.5x the spread. They also have tons of recoil. Try something like an94, ak74 or m416, they have the regular spread and have less recoil. Even better if you have close quarters expansion, the scar-l is a beast at range. If you have back to karkand, try out the L85. Another thing, the guns have multiple times bigger spread while you're moving, so stay in one position when hitting anything in med-long range. Use heavy barrel.

Search for bf3 weapons stats on symthic. It should give you a good insight into how guns work in bf3. It's basically about fire rate. Since most assault rifles kill in 4 shots up close-6 at range, most carbines kill in 4-7 shots etc. a gun with higher fire rate will just have more recoil while a gun with slower fire rate will have less. It's not like bad company 2 where you, for example, had a f2000 with a high fire rate and low recoil but also low damage. Yeah, I too, liked the bc2 approach better, most guns were able to kill easily at range, even some carbines.

If you haven't gotten used to it already from bc2, spot, spot and spot. Try putting your index finger on select button and your middle on aim button so you can always have both actions ready, instead of keeping the middle finger on aiming and then having to switch it to spot. It helps me out a lot if I miss my shots and a guy goes into cover, if he's spotted I can see exactly where he is, which way he's facing etc.

I do know that high ROF means more recoil, and the F2000 in BC2 also had more recoil than other guns, but my main problem is only that no one dies even if empty an entire magazine in their face, they'll just run away. I only use high ROF guns, and in every shooter I've played besides BF3, I'm a killing machine and can tolerate the recoil. The only button I use more than the aim button is the spot button, so you we can't say that spotting is a problem for me, I know exactly how spotting worked in BC2, but in this game, there is some sort of 4 second cooldown for the spot button which makes it harder to track a handful of people. Yesterday, I tried to do everything you people suggested, and there was this Premium guy on the other side. The guy was setting a charge, I run in, fill him with 31 (AEK-971) bullets, but what happens? He turns right around and kills me in exactly 4 shots with the M4A1. Does this crappy game give Premium players some advantage over others, just because they paid $50 more? I'm very sure that it's not my internet connection or NAT type, because I have a speed of 40 Mbps. And can you tell me why don't running people die? I literally spray the area around the guy, be it a Tank HMG or an Apache Missile, but he never dies in less than a dozen shots fired exactly on his head. Also, how the hell can people shoot me through meter-thick walls?

I'm not sure what to tell you then, as I have no problem aiming most of the time. Takes me about 10-15 rounds up close and at medium range to get a kill by firing 2-3 shots at a time. Try using L85 or an94/ak74 if you don't have dlc. You can't really compensate with high rof guns so much that it becomes as accurate as a slow rof gun, at least you can't on consoles.

Latency....simples Put your TV into Game mode inside your TV settings and turn off motion plus on your TV if you have it on....fixed all aiming issues I had,no wonder the devs never worked the latency issue out on BF3 it was down to the users TV set...again make sure your in GAME mode it refreshes the TV better and keeps up with latency now when you move your gun to the left or right you wont have a small delay enough to make you miss your shot. Hope this helps.

Hey, I certainly know what I'm doing, I can also aim down fine, the only thing is that people just don't die even with a full magazine and they just turn around and kill me in 4 shots (through walls too), more noticeably the Premium players who can one-shot me with a PP2000 from sniper range.
