go online and find out how to unlock symphony of the night. If you haven't played that yet, I'm sure you'll be satisfied.
Alright, I'm actually looking forwards to symphony of night, but...
I don't want to sound bad at the game, but I just like it when games are more.... fun. This is just punishing.
I agree.
and I'm getting tired of every legit complaint about this game being answered with "welcome to old school gaming." I have been playing video games since the early 80's. I do not need anyone's welcome to gaming, old or new school.
This is why it's good to read reviews and find out things before buying a game. Rondo of Blood was the last of the classic CV games, then Symphony of the Night started the style that we now see in modern games.
This game needed to come out. People outside of Japan didn't have a legit way to play it without importing until now.
Rondo of Blood is classic castlevania the remake is easier than the original game that hidden on the disc. SotN is what the gba/ds castlevania games are based on so, once you unlock it you see a legend in gaming.
The games are hard but it's rewarding to know you beat them ...... dont give up on Rondo it's a great game and you'll love Symphony of the Night it's an awesome game.

I sorta agree with what you say, but I've realized something. You call it rewarding once you have finished. I have realized in my past eight or so years of video gaming that video games don't offer 'rewards'. It's all about the moment! I got better, now the game is much easier, but the unlockable original version is identical in almost every way and the symphony of night is... outdated. If they redid symphony of night in 3d quality, that would be a game that I would enjoy.
SOTN on Dracula X chronicles sux. Well it doesn't suck, but I'm not too fond of how they redid all of the voice acting. I used to be able to repeat the lines verbatim, and now the voices don't even fit the characters. The cheesy bad dialogue was part of what made it a good game to me. "Heh Heh, TTTHHHAAANNNKKK YYYOOOOOOUUUU!!!!"> librarian after purchasing an item from his shop. The new translation is more of a "thank you".motherboop
i agree with you, i memorized all the old lines playing through sotn on the playstaion, so i was quite dissapointed on the voice acting, i could even sound like the characters themselves.

when I say rewarding I mean it not a cake walk like alot of games made today. Developers really dumb down the challenge of a game to make it more casual friendly. As for SotN being outdated WTH it's one of the greatest Castlevania game every! I'm glad they left it untouched, the new dubbing is okay but the voice cast in the original was better ...... it had more felling.
Ok guys the new voice dubbs were alittle disapointing but making the game horrible? YOu have to be kidding me! Thats going too far.. SOTN imo is wortht he price alone.. SOTN on a handheld was great, and the redone visuals were really good.
It definitely is a good port, but the PSN download off of PS3 is definitely more superior, it's a direct port, and you can eliminate the border. instead of just two views, you get four, including full screen. And, you get the original pimpish voice-overs.Ok guys the new voice dubbs were alittle disapointing but making the game horrible? YOu have to be kidding me! Thats going too far.. What I'm saying about SOTN possibly being outdated: look at the ds ones! If they all came out at the same time, which one would be better? Yes, SOTN may have been a revolution but I was expecting a great PSP RPG adventure! Rondo of Blood was not RPG (my mistake) and SOTN doesn't seem worth it compared to the DS ones.Nightingale27the gba/ds castlevania are all based on SotN everything levels, character development, magic, come from Sotn. All the gba/ds games do is refine a proven success. Castlevania isnt a RPG game but it does have rgp elements like you characters leveling up and gaining more powers and abilities ..... by the end of the game you're character is much stronger than he/she was in the beginning.
I have to fully and completly agree with B-bad on all of these issues. I have the game, and while yes Rondo of Blood is very difficult, there is a sense of satisfaction once you complete it 100%. Most of the arguments against this game are based on the point of view that old-school cannot be fun. Anything that has some sort of challenge is shoved off to the side and never given credit. Rondo of Blood is one of those difficult games, and it was the end of an era. The end of level based Castlevania games. As such it should be treated as a rare gaming gem. Anyone over the age of 18 appreciates it for what it is. A nostalgic trip down memory lane.
As for Symphony of the Night being garbage. How can you say something like that? If it was not for SotN, the Castlevania games of today would not be the way that they are, and the franchise may have died. As I have always said, you need to know your roots to fully appreciate what you have.

I kinda agree with you, because it is about the moment, but there are also rewards. Saying there's no reward for finishing a game makes all the Final Fantasy games pointless, cause their game-play isn't exactly going to win any awards any time soon, but the stories they tell just might, and having to do all the grinding and somewhat annoying side-quests to get to the end of the story makes sense once you see that final CG video that the game shows you. And for people who cant see rewards in finishing a game, Microsoft came up with those achievements, which are pretty much bragging rights.
Also, during your 8 or so years of "video gaming" you didn't actually lived through theNES, SNES, GENESIS "era"and you only kinda caught a glimpse of what the N64 and PS1 came to be. That being the case its easy to say what games you probably saw during those 8 years, which also explains why you didn't liked the Castlevania remake (which is nothing but a splash of make-up on the core experience), or why you said that Symphony of the Night, a time-less classic, is "outdated".
Dont get me wrong, I'm not trashing what you said, its your opinion and its respectful, but I bet YOU can see where I'm coming from. You weren't there when people were getting tired of eating mushrooms and killing goombas, and out of no-where people discovered a title that let you kill a vampire with a whip, that was awesome back then, and I still enjoy killing vampires with a whip.
This case can be compared to car fanatics, old people tend to like old cars, classics if you will, and young people tend to like new or some-what recent models, but every once in while there's a young dude who likes old classic cars, YOUR JUST NOT ONE OF THEM.
Hey everyone`s entitled to their own opinion. As for me Rondo of Blood is amazing and some of the best Castlevania that I`ve played since Castlevania 4 and SOTN. I`m a huge 2D gaming fan and I EVEN like the remakes graphics more then the original game. The only dissapointing thing that I found out about Rondo of Blood was how easy it was to defeat Dracula. If you played SOTN at the beginning of the game, the fight with Dracula is the same fight at the end of Rondo of Blood.
I`m now playing through the original Rondo of Blood and I`m finding the game to be so much easier (bosses) and it`s cool to finally see the original character designs that are usedfor SOTN. Also as great as the GBA/DS Castlevania`s are, I don`t think they`ll ever be as good as the older Castlevanias. Castlevania 4, Rondo of Blood & SOTN. Hey if you think Rondo of Blood is hard. Try the original Castlevania. The battle withthe Grim Reaper will make you break your controller. :x

I have to give it to you, this is very truthful. If I started video gaming at a time of games like that, a game that revamps an old memory would very much appeal to me. However, as you said, I was not. As well as that, real time RPG's are what I enjoy, not platformers, and I thought this was going to be a platformer RPG, which was ok with me. It wasn't. I'm a little ticked off because I bought a game expecting one genre and getting another instead.
