I'm looking to get a PS3 try out the exclusives I've been missing out on for years, just in time to get a PS4.

I'm wondering the differences between the later 2500 and 3000 models.

Yes I know that the 3001B loses the LED lighting, chrome finish on the panel with the power and eject buttons, and gets a smaller fan. But from doing my research, I haven't found any real world comparisons. Most of the comparisons I've seen were done right when the 3001B came out. Now that both versions have been out some time and have a track record, which one would you recommend me to buy? Noise and heat are my biggest concerns, in that order.

Thanks so much.

I have the Playstation 3 CECH-3001B 320GB the last model before the Superslims took over. The difference is mostly for Sony's cost in Manufacturing the regular slim PS3 consoles. The revisions are not going to have much impact on day to day use of these consoles. So a CECH 2500 is not going to YLOD more often than a CECH 3000 series.

Cost reduction cost for Sony. Even minor does help. So your going to be just fine with either console. The superslims PS3 are not quite an improvement over the regular slim series of PS3.
