with other eletrical items that use battery power, if you continously recharge them whn not in use and never let the battery flattern, then this lowers the battery lifespan. ive just bought the pelican charger dock, and was wondering if i was to plug my controllers into the dock everytime i finish playing the ps3, will the battery lifespan of the controllers be affected in the same way?

I think so. Batteries are like that. To be safe, don't recharge any electronics/gadget when battery is not low or empty. And using electronics/gadgets while charging also makes the battery lifespan short.
