I needed to charge my controller ,but i didn't want to leave my ps3 on for 3 hours, so i read you can charge the controller to any usb port. So i turned off my ps3, turned on my laptop and connected it, so now i can use the laptop while i wait for my ps3 controller to charge. But the controller's 4 lights are just flashing, and the 1st light isn't the only one flashinglikeit normally wouldwhile its charging, does that still mean that its charging?

That's normal, all 4 lights are flashing because the PS3 is turned off. If you're playing and charging at the same time, it's just 1 light that flashes.

yes its working. The reason why only 1 light is flashing while charging while also playing ps3 is because ure using it as player 1 whereas when u charge it on the laptop the controller isnt assigned to any player number so all 4 lights flash

It's much easier just to buy a charger that is always on that you just set your controller in when you're not playing. I wonder why Sony didn't make the PS3s USB ports always on so you could charge your controllers when the PS3 is off?

Yeah I don't know why they have it set so the USB ports get no power when off. Even my Wii has USB ports getting power when off. That's how I charge my controllers right now.
