Hey everyone, i've been thinking of picking up a ps3 sometime soon, and was thinking of getting the 80gb version, but then i thought what if i just went and bought the cheapest version, and then just put my own hard-drive in.

I'd be getting a cheaper ps3, with quite a lot more storage space than the 80gb version, and probably a faster hardrive. Anyway was just wondering what other people on here think is the best way to go about this.

Thanks for your replies and cya.

Dave.

Do that if you need space.

It doesn't avoid warranty

The $499 80GB MGS4 bundle is for a limited time only so you should pick it up soon. Its the only ps3 that has a memory stick slots and 4 USB ports and it can play PS2 games. The $399 40 GB however has 2 USB slots and no memory stick slots and can not play PS2 games. They all come with the Dual Shock 3 Controller.

In the fall they are replacing the 40GB with 80GB and it still will not be able to play PS2 games, no memory stick slots and only 2 USB ports. And 160GB bundle is coming out also that can not play PS2 games, no memory stick slots, and only 2 USB ports.

So I say get the MGS4 Bundle to get the best version of the PS3. If you dont care for those benefits then just get the 40GB now and upgrade the hard drive with a 2.5 sata hard drive with 5400 RPM.
