I borrowed Chrono Cross from my manager. I love the game, enjoying it very much. However, I have a question and seek help. I'm about 8 hours into the game, and this didn't happen until just recently. Whenever I am fighting, when I go to use an element, it works a couple times, then the game gets stuck during the time that they are casting the spell, it just stays like that, they just are stuck casting and nothing happens. Now, is this the game, or my PS3 that is causing this? The disc looks fine, has no scratches, I cleaned it once.
It's probably your PS3. Not all games work perfect with emulation. I'd be careful with cleaning your managers disc too. Sometimes cleaning discs just add scratches. If you give it back to your manager all scratched up I'm sure he'll be pretty pissed.
Its not your game its the PS3. I also recently wanted to play through chrono cross again so I fired it up. When I reached Fargo's pirate ship the game started freezing during element casting as well. I managed to make it a bit further before quitting just by listening to the music start to slow. When the music starts sounding funny dont cast spells- just attack and the game won't freeze. Eventually I got sick of it thou and just used my PS2 instead- works great. Oh I have the 60GB PS3 so I'm not sure why it would fail and like the original poster I had no problems at all until several hours into the game.

Yes sir, thank you, this is the same exact thing that has happened to me. Well this sucks, I don't have my ps2 anymore so I'm doomed never to finish this great game...
yeah mines done the same thing and it just gets frustrating. it is not my elements, but the bosses elements instead. i called sony, but they told me to confirm it was only mine. since then i've tried my ps2, but the memory card does not work, so i go to the ps1 where the laser is too weak to read my disc. so i'm just going to wait for the ds remake of chrono cross, i hope.
i had the same problem with mine at fargo's ship, then later MUCH WORSE on the isle of the damned. it's the ps3. it can play killzone 2 and resident evil 5 but can't emulate chrono cross correctly. hm.

What PS3 Model do you have? I have the 60gb original model and was hoping to play this game myself after I beat Chrono Trigger on the DS.

yea it had happened to me also...i have a copy in my house and out of all my PS1 games like Parasite Eve Vagrant Story FFVII FFVIII FFIX FFChronicles none of them freeze but Chrono Cross but i still wanna know how Trigger and Cross are connected
