I have finally seen my first sign of blu ray pulling way ahead. I went into my local best buy today, where they have ALWAYS had an equal cut on the shelves of lu ray and hd dvd, roughly 2 shelves a piece. Today I see they have 6 shelves of blu ray and nly one of hd-dvd with not vey much selection at all. Blu ray had a much larger selection and had more ad's all over. This was the same with ciruit city here as well. First time I have seen this extent of blu ray dominance in this area, and it's making me happy!

I say the war is far from over. now if Blu-Ray can get Warner Bros exculsive then i say the war is pretty much over for HD. but if HD can get Warner on they're side things would start to look bad for Blu-Ray. Warner is pretty much the biggest Hollywood movie company that still gets big time hits all year round. IMO its the last good movie studio around (besides independent studios) M$ and Sony both know key battle gorund right now is Warner we will see how things turn out.

Yea is Warner jumps ship on dual format and supports Blu-ray only, the win will be cemented. Sales are around 3:1 right now. It seems that blu-ray is running a much more aggressive advertising campaign and they need it because of those cheap HD-DVD players at walmart and best buy.

true true. but a Blu-Ray player is now only 50 bucks more then a HD $199.99. but thats only on amazon right now. if Sony and co get that in stores before the new cheap HD players come that will really boost some numbers.

How much is the cheapest Blu-ray player in The States? I remember the first one over here cost £1000, but now there are cheaper ones (even one from Sony) that cost about £300.

That's my thoughts as well. Disney is a HUGE supporter of Blu-ray. So far all movies released on DVD are out on Blu-ray from this year.

Don't jump for joy yet. Not all Blockbusters stores here in Michigan even carry blu-ray movies. In my area, out of 4 stores only one carries them and only has one copy of a movie. They tell everyone that it is a trial period for them. This is not a clear sign that either of them is winning. The market for either Blu-Ray and HD DVD is still small. And since the Xbox 360 and PS3 can play regular DVD movies there is little to motivate people to spend even more for those advance movies.

Let alone spend $10-$15 more.

You should probably know what your talking about before you go and make stupid comments about how you know movies. I will point out everything you got wrong. here it goes 1. Warner Bros. is not the biggest film studio its probably around number 4. Columbia is the biggest then 20th Century Fox then Walt Disney then comes in Warner 2. Warner does sell all there movies in blue ray as well as HD too, and ifHDgot Warner exclusive big whooptee doo who cares, 3. "big time hits all year around" well lets see: No Country for Old Men- Miramax, Juno-Fox Search Light, Gone Baby Gone- Miramax, Knocked Up-Unervisal, Superbad- Universal, you getting my drift, those are only a few. Warners only good movies this year are The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford, Michael Clayton, Sweeney Todd, and I Am Legend, all year round i don't think so. 4. Its the last good studio around yeah maybe back when movies first came Warner was the hugest studio around they owned then entire market but not anymore but those ahead of it now are better then Warner is today. 5 The key battle ground isn't Warner there really isn't any Battle ground Sony Pictues (which is Columbia and MGM), Disney, 20th Century Fox, and Lionsgate are exclusively Blue Ray only, only Paramount and Dreamworks support HD exclusively. So 4 of the top 6 major film studios are all exclusively Blue Ray. The war is over Blue Ray won the end. FUC* Warner Bros (except for Casablanca the greatest movie of all time other than that screw them). Just like to note i know all of this because i am a film geek. I will be entering Film School at Columbia College in the fall.

they need to decrease the price of the movies. next year sony should release a couple of its larger movies exclusively on bluray ,although it may not be great in the short term i think it will help alot in the long term.
