Nah, I don't think so but Battlefield 3 will be an awesome game that caters more to teamwork. I think knowing Activision the only COD killer is COD, it might end up going the same route as Guitar Hero if they keep milking the franchise too much.
agreed with previous posters...cod will kill itself whether by steadily being worse or just not doing anything new...it will kill itself...also...bf3 will not kill cod even as much as i want it to...but thats probably for the best cause i really dont like the majority of the cod community and id be more than happy to not have to play bf3 with them...i guess since im gettin it on pc as well that should help alot lolz...
the only thing that will stop a series as popular as COD is time so stop making these stupid threads people
most likely not. COD has far too many fans, amazing advertising, it somehow always gets on the news when a new one is being released, and it's very accessible to the masses. I for one hope it still keeps up so we can get a more dedicated fanbase for BF3 (note, I'm a fan of COD and BF, but they are different games with different styles of play so having people come into BF wanting to run and gun without a team will lessen the experience for those who play it correctly). I don't really get why people want COD to go away. Sure, it gets overhyped quite a bit, but there are tons of other games for us all to pick up instead. However, as a whole I see BF3 being a better game, especially since the MW story is just sort of not that great at all. I'm glad we're getting a proper BF since the characters in BC2 were really annoying. I'll be getting BF3 just because it's more of my type of game, but COD will probably be the highest selling fps of the year.
Regardless, my main fps this year will probably be Deus Ex: Human Revolution, as it just looks to be a really great game and a worthy successor to the 1st (which I'm currently playing now and it's pretty great, and yes I know I'm about 10 years late to the party with it).

So did Guitar Hero until Rockband showed up and changed the music game industry for the better. Just wait people are gonna get sick of the camping and lackofteamwork and destructability in C,O,D. And DICE (Just like Harmonix) will continue to pave the way for games in it's genre. But we won't know till we cross that bridge.
Will Battlefield 3 and the frostbite 2.0 engine be able to beat and dominate mw3?KingsohunNo it wont. CoD has too many kids who only buy and play CoD (eh, their parents buy to be exact). They dont care about anything else. It would have to be even more arcade-like to even have a chance. Plus, CoD selling more doesnt mean CoD is a better game than Battlefield.
I agree with all of those who said COD will kill itself with milking the franchise... I was still way into playing COD 4 when MW2 came out... Then before you know it WAW and Black Ops are out, and MW2 was still very active online.. Now Black Ops is HUGE and They're ALREADY making MW3.. It's starting to be like sports games, and I think it's a bit ridiculous...
Regarding the Battlefield/COD issue. I really enjoy both.. I like COD's variety of game modes and the engine on which it runs.. I also always love the campaigns. For battlefield, I really like the depth of gameplay (vehicles and such) and the emphasis on teamwork.
Different type of game. Allot of people were still playing Battlefield 2 and still are instead of COD. They don't follow the same ruleset. COD is fast-paced, Battlefield is a tad slower, more realistic.
If you like COD, you don't necessarily like Battlefield and vice versa.
