I've never been able to connect to COD4's multiplayer and I've had it since the day it was released. I'm having the problem where it displays the "Downloading Game Settings" message and won't progress any further. I heard this problem was resolved by Infinity Ward however, but I still can't play online. Is anyone else still having this problem? What can I do to fix this?

(My connection is fine, as I've played Warhawk online without any problems, so I can't figure out what the problem is, if I even have anything to do with it not working.)

I know people have talked about this so much on this forum, still need an answer though.

go to the IW website and they should have some support topics there

from what i can remember, some people have to open ports 3074 and 3075 on their routers to play

try that, but still check IW's site

The problem lies with the servers, which weren't ready for the amount of people to go online. IW is supposedly working with the server team in order to fix the problem. I don't think you need to change settings on your router, other than setting the router's NAT to "Open", as you would for getting onto XBox Live. That would resolve some general issues for the time being.

On the 360 back in the beta you had to just let it do it's thing. some times it's a while but you just need to leave it on at the downloading game settings screen.

Yeah, I've left it on the "downloading game settings" message for hours while I do other things, no dice. I don't really have a problem waiting for IW to fix the servers (although it blows), I just wanted to try to fix things on my end. I'll try the router thing when I get the chance, but it sounds like that won't work either. Thanks for the advice though.

Seriously though, is anyone else unable to connect still?

I have only managed to connect once myself, after that the connection times where just tedious. Hope something clears up fast.

to those that can't connect, I use to have those problems also. Even with a NAT 2 setting.

What i did is just connect my PS3 straight to my DSL modem without using my router. That solved the problem.

There is a strong rumor on IW's official website that there will be a patch released tommorow 11/29 that will fix most of the server issues. *crosses fingers* Heres hoping...
