COD4 Multiplayer... people with colored names, lagging the game?

I've been extremely annoyed with the lack of hit detection due to lag the past month... I also realized that thats when people with colored names started to appear. One guy said not to change your name to have it colored since it screws something up or something (i wasn't paying attention). Is this true?

I used to love this game, but now I just get pissed and start breaking stuff and swearing to God. Sometimes I finish under .500 in kills, which NEVER used to happen before (used to have a 2.6 k/d ratio.... now its 2.1).

Shoot anyway. Most games have friendly fire off. If you're playing one with it on, then...yeah.

I think the patch that is coming out this week will fix it. I haven't played COD4 in a while since college has taken over my life, but I would imagine that it would screw things up. Afterall it is a glitch and glitches are a ****. BTW, does anyone else in college have NO free time to play the PS3 anymore? I get about 2 hours a week if I'm lucky.Rich1631

Dont worry you are not alone. I'm in University 2nd year and i'm getting owned right now with paper work and exams. I havent touched my PS3 in two weeks :( no end in sight right now either!

doesn't really bother me. If I knew the way to make my name colored, I'd do it, too! heheh!

Unless you have a silencer, shooting will give your position away. Anyways, to change the color of your name, you have to take a your saved game file from the PS3, put it on your computer via flash drive, then edit it with a Hex editor. Yes, I have done this, however, I only did it to see how it was done, then changed my name back to normal. And about the lagging and glitching, I think your on to something. Anytime you edit something with a Hex editor, there is about a 50% chance that something wrong and unintentional will happen, even if you know what your doing.
