To me, they are the same game. I like the weapons in 4 better, but am fine with what is in WaW. The one thing going WaW's way is the additional game types, especially Capture the Flag. Having tanks in some of the levels is cool too.
I haven't touched CoD4 since I got WaW. I'm sure I'll play it some in the future, but I've moved on to WaW.
I put up a post not so long ago having a real go at W at W (I got moderated as well - your not allowed to have an opinion) but I am going to have to eat humble pie, because I really like the online now. I think that COD4 and W at W are very different though, for mean 4 was all about running around with a P90 killing and being killed at lot, while w at w is all about a bolt action rifle and being slow and deliberate.
Honestly mate, World at War is just so fun. I loved the campaign as I've always had a fascination with WWII and playing the Russians in the attack on Berlin is just so good cause when the Russians reached Berlin they went INSANE on the Germans and you're in the action every step of the way.
Online mode is a blast, obviously the CoD4 mutiplayer with extra game modes, then you have the co-op campaign and competetive, the latter being incredibly fun with 4 players and to top it all off, a nice little 4 player zombie mode.
