COD4 is my first FPS game and when I first started playing I found the LMG's easiest to control. Eventually I got to where the MP5 was better and now I can aim quickly enough where the M16 works great for me. The trouble is, when I am in close quarters combat or trying desperately to reposition, I accidentally trigger a melee... A LOT. As you can guess this leads to death as I am shot or knifed while trying to regain control of my weapon. Does anyone know where I can find a controller with a separate button for the melee attack? Preferably every thing else would be exactly the same. I don't care about dualshock or not. I play on a PS3 and I also have a Wii but if there is a controller like this available only on xbox 360, that would work too.
There prolly isn't a controller that will do it. Maybe you can look at teh other controls presets. You cant configure each button but they may have one that reassigns the melee.

You can switch the controls around to your liking. The tactical setting, as mentioned above, is probably your best bet. You will have to get used to having your crouch/prone and knifing buttons switched. Crouching probably will not affect you as much when you are in a heated battle than missing a knife would. So I would suggest trying that out first before looking into a modded controller.

If you are wondering about the Call of Duty ranks, it is basically to unlock new weapons and perks. There is really no other reason for the leveling system. If you are speaking about the levels on the GameSpot forums, try this link.

If you are talking about the gamespot Levels and what not please look in this tread for newbies and it will tell you how to use gamespot.If you are talking about Call of duty 4,well there are 55 levels to achieve in multiplayer.You get exp to level up by killing people online,capturing HQ,destroying the right things,capturing the flags etc,etc.You can unlock new weapons and challenges by getting to certain levels.You can do certain challenges which will give you even more exp towards your goal of level 55.Challenges range from easy ones like falling to your death and getting 25 kills with a certain weapon to hard ones like Killing two people with one sniper bullet and getting 150 headshots with a certain weapon.I hope this helps alittle.
