Amazing game. Only problem I had with the PS3 version is the absurd number of glitches/bugs.
Combat is difficult outside of VATS but just use that all the time when shooting and the controls won't seem so bad. If you try shooting stuff w/o VATS you won't have much success.
I don't see how you're having trouble using the map. Seems relatively easy for me to use. :? I liked the pip boy as well. Switching weapons/using items was quick and easy for me.
New Vegas will most likely have much better aiming than Fallout 3.
You're going to be able to aim down your sights you know. ;)
I can also only guess that it will have less bugs and glitches than Fallout 3.
i didn't find it as great as the first two, but it's still pretty good. a suggestion if i may - if you have a good enough PC, you might want to play Fallout 3 on it. it has an enourmous modding community, and you can pretty much customize the game inside-out.
my opinion on New Vegas - it's made by Obsidian so there's a VERY good chance that it will come with tons of glitches. virtually everything they made are techinically flawed to a great extent. they spent close to 5 years on Alpha Protocol and look what happen. so i wouldn't hold my breath on it if i were you. just let your friend take the hit. :D
I recently bought Fallout 3 because my friend insisted it was the "greatest game ever" but I just can't get into it. I know that this game's kind of old but i was wondering if i was the only one who doesn't like this game because all of my friends insist it is great and are pumped for New Vegas. Between the poor controls, impossible-to-maneuver map and ridiculous inventory selection thing (that annoying Pip- Boy) I absolutely do not like this game. Your ideas on it? Legallyblind795
Look, not all games are meant for everyone, but just how much have you played to say this? Even I didnt understand how map navigation worked here at first, but give it some time, then you realize its great. If you have any specific questions about this ask away! :)And I found the controls very simple too. Its so cool, you can either go away guns blazing and shooting like mad as in most FPS's or sneak around like a stealthy hunter trying to get one shot critical hit kills! Whats more the 1st and 3rd person cameras give better perspective. And, yes, unfortunately, the inventory selection from the pip-boy is slow. But it don't make the game unlikeable. So, try and give it some more time and you'll find an engrossing adventure. :D
I played through the entire main storyline and also did a handful of side missions. Honestly, I thought the game was just a tad on the boring side. While it is clear that they put a ton of effort into it, it just didn't grab me like I was hoping. I played Oblivion as well and it was a fantastically beautiful game but, at times, it was also just kind of boring to me. The open sandbox style games can definitely be an acquired taste but I actually enjoyed GTA IV quite a bit by comparison. I guess I feel like a whole lot more could have been done to make things like Fallout 3 and Oblivion better.
Amazing game. The thing I didn't like about the game was the frequent frame rate and freezing issues, otherwise, loved it!
You can just stop playing, it does indeed get better, but if you didnt like the first 15 hours just stop then. Its you that misses out :)I'm probably 15 hours into it and I am totally baffled by all the hype this game gets. Does it get a whole lot better later on? Because so far it's average at best, and when you take all the glitches into account, it's below average.

It not that it wasn't good but I could never get into it. I seemed to get lost a lot in the city and underground and didn't get very far through the game

Legallyblind795I thought it was lacking compared to Oblivion. Oblivion had more stuff to do and it was more varied in terms of combat. I played Oblivion for 100hrs + and still had plenty I want to do in that game (guild quests), but after 40hrs in Fallout 3 I beat it and was done with the game. Fallout 3 has terrible FPS mechanics and gets repetitive as you just get in the habit of spamming VATS to get easy headshots and then you wait for it to recharge and do it again. I think New Vegas is going to be a major letdown as Fallout3 was overrated and New Vegas is from Obsidian, who has an iffy track record
oblivion>fallout. I own both, this is just my take: Oblivion is more in depth, pick up a book, and theres sometimes 30+pages to read. fallout you can't do that/ I like magic, bow and arrows better than guns. Cyrodiil is beautiful, fallout is well... a post nuclear war.
Fallout 3 = Oblivion
Both are in my 5 favourites from this gen and between them I've probably put in 300+ hours.

I bought it for the Xbox 360 and hated it started and never finished it. I just can't get into that game at all. Proably will never sell it as I keep every game I buy but don't think I will ever finish it.
it was good but here are the 2 bad things there are more glitchs then pixals and my most hated fact about the game is the broken steal dlc you see when the story ended i loved the ending but then the dlc came along and ruined i liked every other dlc btw

Legallyblind795don't like it either bro....I couldn't even trade it in since I got it for less tah $20 :(
i am on the other side of the fence, i got right to the end of oblivion, then never came back to it. Fallout 3 on the other hand i spent 8+ hours in it with the expansion packs and wish i could go back for more content. i jst wished for better looking female models.... also spent 50 hours in dragon age, and only 30 hours in mas efect 2

I haven't played Oblivion though, so i have no comment on that.
