The difficulty is overexaggerated by people imo. All you need to do is play smart and play carefully. Keep your shield up and be prepared to die A LOT. After you get the hang of it then you won't be able to stop playing.

It's not that hard, it's the fact that you start the level all over again that makes it hard. If your careful you'll be all right.

Yep what the two above said. It's not difficult if you take your time and don't rush in to any situation. Defense is sometimes the best offence as they say

Mario: One hit deaths, more environmental risks, set amount of lives, complete restart when lives run out, timed

Demon's Souls: Infinite amount of retries, ability to regain lost souls, ability to call in friends for help, multiple hits to die, the ability to guard and parry attacks, magic and ranged attacks kill almost everything with little trouble.

If it's your first run through, and you're not checking out any vids or strat guides for help, it will be challenging. But with each death, you learn.

This. Its an excruciating exercise in experimentation and exploring the first time around.

Yeah it's not particularly hard it's just unforgiving... not hard.. Play carefully don't go run round a dark corner and expect nothing to happen, go around with your shield up and be careful, that's all..

Imagine playing Super Mario Bros. without power ups and at the end of each level, you get a mushroom to make you super.

Just quit the game after every death, it'll be extremely easy if you do.

With the number of exploits, this game is pretty easy. And i don't mean like cheats or hax, i mean like simple strategy (I did not know what the World 5-3 boss looked like until my 3rd play through. Arrows and magic FTW)

well that's not saying much to me, the old Super Mario games are the hardest mainstream games I have ever played probably.
