Is it better to just get component cables because they're cheaper and both do HD? Is there a limit to how much Component Cables can handle? I honestly dont see the point of going out to buy HDMI cables if component offers just about the same thing from what I'm hearing.

It's not the same! HDMI is uncompressed and Component is compressed.

HDMI looks better than component

Depends. There is Analog DVI and Digital DVI. Digital is better that component. I think analog is the same as component.

for 1 hdmi is better because it carries digital audio(2.1,5.1,6.1,7.1,etc) and not all tvs support 1080p through component but only through HDMI. HDMI>COMPNENT

The simple answer is HDMI removes the losses associated with digital to analogue conversion that is required for Component cables.  Also HDMI allows for greater depth in colour due to its high bandwidth.  You can find HDMI cables for roughly the same price as component anyway these days so I know which I'd pick.

The whole argument from the thread starter is turned upside down since he thought Component was cheaper, when HDMI is actually cheaper. Component, being analog, you need to pay more for better quality, usually starting around $30-$60. While HDMI, you go to monoprice.com and get a 6 Foot HDMI cable shipped for $10, and no matter what it's perfect picture, no worse than a $300 HDMI cable.
