Well im buying my PS3 soon , and I would like to know if there´s any major difference between component cables and HDMI , Im hesitating about HDMI because they are quite expensive and official PS3 component cables cost 19 bucks

My HDTV supports up to 1080i , Will I notice the difference between Component and HDMI?

Is there a physical store (no online stores please ) that sell cheap HDMI? (no more than 29 bucks)

There's not much of a difference between them except that HDMI is easier to hook up as there is only one thing to plug in. That's basically the only difference.

With HDMI you get full range RGB so you have more colors 0 to 256 instead of 16 to 256 so HDMI is better if your TV supports that. If your TV doesn't then HDMI and Component are the same

I would strongly reccomend HDMI since it's so much cheaper. All those "gold-plated" or "premium" hdmi cables are scams. You could pick one up off a newegg.com for $5 that offers the same quality and performance. Here's the link to that said cable and if you don't believe me about the quality then read the reviews.

Yup - what they all said!

HDMI is digital of course you want it if your TV supports it. Component is good - HDMI is just better.

I'm not sure, but I think you can only upscale dvds and old games up to 1080p via HDMI.

Wow nice find! That's insane, I can't believe so many people are trying to pass these cables off for $35+... It's rediculous.

Here is the link to those cables.

I actually bought them and I can't tell the difference from those and the other $25 ones we bought.

HDMI is better for the simple fact that dvd's are upconverted to 720p/1080i..you cant do that with component...also, i got mines cheap for like 23bucks at walmart..so go to walmart, there cheap..and the name brand doesnt matter, all HDMI cables are the same 10 $ or 70$ cable...same stuff

I went with HDMI because I think it looks a little better, it's a lot easier to hook up, and my tv is running out of inputs but not a lot of the things I own have an HDMI out.

the first HDMI cable I bought was faulty though, which sucked. thats why I didn't order one online though; I can't wait a week to find out if the damn thing is even going to work. I just exchanged it at the store and was on my way. the convenience was worth it.

Honestly component will look just fine, if your tv doesn't even support 1080p then component will do.

Only thing some of these more expensive HDMI cables offer is better shielding against radio frequency and electromagnetic interferences. They also usually are more durable but I don't think that's worth the extra $50.

So if you have an HDMI connector on your tv it is the only way to go, get the HDMI cables! The thing is with Component cables is the quality of the conductor/connector really can improve or decrease video quality but with HDMI the signal is all digital.

HDMI is alot more convenient because it is one cable but component cables do display pretty much the same quality but its HDMI just offers that little more colour. The downside to component cables are that they do not display copyright dvd's at 1080p(I''ve heard). So for a long term investment HDMI is the way to go.
