Hi all,

As some of you had done it already, i just liek to ask a few questions. Is SATA2 compliant on PS3? Also does the thickness of the HD matters? As i know the larger the capacity, the thicker it is.

Thanks for the help in advance. :)

Thanks for the prompt reply. just to clarify, does it mean that if its too thick it wouldn't fit in the casing, hence it could not be slotted into the ps3 console? as im kinda concern with the price, higher capacity slimmer thickness would cost more than the normal thickness. thanks again in advance. :)

It has to be 2.5 SATA. I just installed a 250 gb toshiba, and it was very easy.

beware though. There is a 500gb model by hitachi that is 12.5mm thick rather than the standard 9.5mm. This HDD won't fit in the enclosure.

Wow lucky you. I had a hell of a time getting mine open (in my blog).

@Brighty22

I bought a 320 GB Western Digital Scorpio 5400 RPM 2.5" SATA drive, works like a charm. Although once you get it, it only turns out to be about 298 GB and once formatted it ends up being about 248 GB. The PS3 formats based on the % of drive space, not a definitive number unfortunately.
