Despite some recent online rumors about monthly fees, MAG has just been CONFIRMED to be free online play.
Check the official Sony blog for the video interview and see for yourself.

I am awe struck!
SONY is truly a great company!
Well their profits have been up the past two months so...
AWESOME.....but how will they maintain the great servers etc. if costumers don't pay for it?
HarshGamer
I would assume that they will pay for the service through paid PSN transaction.
Things like map pack, new wepons and vechiles.
This is the same business model that Warhawk uses.
I dont think that we will ever see a paid service on the PSN.
SONY mantra for PSN is that its a free online service.
This service is paied for through microtransation as seen in Little Big Planet and Home.

Trust me, some random purchases of PSN content doesn't come near to pay the bill of those great servers. Either the game will be a flop, if it goes for FREE, or they'll going to have a lot of commercials in-game, MANY of them too.I bet new uniforms and things for your character will cost money.TikicobraHonestly, i bet only about 15 % of all PS3 gamers buy stuff off the PSN, the rest are just getting the free stuff.
I always thought that it would be free. Sony doesn't believe in charging to play games online, they've stated that a million times. By the way, I totally agree with them.
I do expect a healthy stream of DLC to come out to help support the game, but all of it will be optional.

same way they maintained all of the other servers they used.
consider it a fixed cost, which may gradually rise if more servers are needed to be installed.
but technically, still a fixed cost.
to think that Sony, Ms, etc. need consumer contributions to run servers is a fallacy; they get plenty of funds from other departments.
i can elaborate further, but i don't think it's necessary. i'm just glad that Sony decided not charge for something that could just as easily be free, simply because of the minuscule nature of providing servers in terms of costs as opposed to the grand scale of operations.
plus free stuff is always enticing; although, WoW proves that otherwise...
more of often than not, free features stimulate a certain amount of demand: i.e people who said they wouldn't buy it if they charged for it... plus/minus media reviews, roughly speaking, Sony just got a few incremental customers.
[QUOTE="akam-war"]BluRay, it's a massive ACTION game.good, but do u have to buy the game on blue ray or download it?
HarshGamer
Fixed :P
It's great to hear that they won't charge a fee, but I'm still iffy on getting the game day one. I'm not really into FPSs anymore, so I'll be sitting this one out unless it turns out really impressive.
DLC and Micro Transactions most likely...AWESOME.....but how will they maintain the great servers etc. if costumers don't pay for it?

You're sig is creepy as hell. Also why would you want to pay?but I wanted to pay.... no joke

To me the game looks interesting but like you, not really into FPSs as I use to be. Glad I won't have to pay to play. M

Great minds think alike anyone???[QUOTE="HarshGamer"]YOU BOUGHT THE GAME! come on, its their duty to provide that service.AWESOME.....but how will they maintain the great servers etc. if costumers don't pay for it?

It's like a car. After paying $20,000 for the car, you can go the free route and push the car around the block or pay the $30 for a tank of gas and drive around the block. The car does the same thing both ways but one is much better.
It's the same for games. Yes you bought the physical game, but where is it written that companies have to provide online support for that game? It's easy for PC games since people can host their own servers. With the PS3, we are at the mercy of Sony as to how good the game will perform. Just look at SOCOM for more proof on how free servers can be bad. I'd rather fill up the tank and drive my game around the block.

lol, yes. I would rather pay $5 a month for lag free and crash free servers than have crappy, laggy servers.[QUOTE="ch2423"]
