and the worse news per ign is that gameinformer states final build of game is less than 2 hrs although not including side missions etc.

I am getting the game for $30 digital which will be my first time buying a digital game because I like to be able to have a option to resale it. I also will using my $10 coupon I got when I first purchase ps4 so I will pay $20. Obviously hideo and Sony is strongly trying to force digital sales. It's not like mgs ground zero will be able to trade in for much being a mini game and also once you open the wrapper from the retail copy. So i will be ok with $20. There is no way in hell,as much as I like mgs, that the mini game is worth $40 nor will I pay that much.

Quality over quantity, imo. I'd take a 2-hour game that blows my socks off and makes me want to revisit it, over an 8 hour filler campaign that becomes a chore to replay.

Consider Journey. Only $20. I would have spent $40 on that and had no regrets.

Not that I'm expecting the new MGS prologue to do that for me. I'm not an MGS fan. There's a lot more to a game than just how long you can vegetate in front of a screen playing it. It's the craftsmanship behind it. The quality of the experience. We knew this back in the 80s and 90s, but we've forgotten it. Nowadays, some gamers won't touch anything unless it's practically a marathon with overdrawn, mediocre plot and a bunch of useless supporting characters and tthrowaway villains.

From how I understand it, it's only $40 if you get it on next-gen consoles' physical copy... digital is $30.

Get it on current ones, and the price is $30 and $20, respectively. My plan is to get the current one for $20 right away, then a next-gen one after a price drop (and of course, me actually buying said console).

2hours????? I thought they said it was 4hours for the main mission.

but i mean honestly i'm not paying $40 for a game which is 2hours long or even 4hours long seriously, thats pretty much a full game price.

This is the first time I have done this. I went to Google play and purchase the free trial for 2 weeks to read the full article on mgs5. I know I have bashed hideo but the man is a genius.

Where would we be without mgs series? How he transformed story and music scores to make the movie world take gaming seriously. Yes I know Resident evil and Zelda has great following but these games haven't continued to evolve like mgs series. All the things we have asked ate in mgs5 with taking away the clock when we get caught, open world, vehicles unto control, run and shoot, more creative combat and also being able to create a base and build it up with people u rescue. Right now I have mgs theme song for one of my ring tones.

I don't like how hideo tries to trick us but I do believe he loves what he does. I do believe he wants to give directorship of mgs to someone else but he isn't comfortable with how well the game would be without him with such as intricate storyline. You see how raidrn game was. I played the demo and that was enough for me.

I know I will get anything he sells with mgs name on it. I am like most people who didn't like David hayter replaced by Sutherland but I do love 24 and his voice is great for mgs. I do believe hideo had a bead with David hayter but we just have to get over it. One thing I will say hideo does what he wants and most of the time it works.

@Lhomity: Exactly what I was thinking, I paid 15 for Journey and have done about 6 playthroughs(around 12-14hrs) as well as just playing through my favorite levels/getting trophies. That's more hours than I've put into games I've paid 3x more to just play the 8hr story, get some trophies, and never touch till maybe a year or two later.

If you are referring to me being late with mgs news I was the first to break the news. Look at my first post date. I have been talking about mgs prologue and other news for the longest. Mostly bad comments when it cones to the price but I know deep down even this mini game will blow out other gaames this yr even including second son.

you're right on quality over quantity

but spending $20 for journey and $40 for MGS is a lack of common buyer sense

It should be cheaper. It's fine that it's short but it should not be more than $20 dollars.
