Well, I just happened to look in my motherboard box for an IDE cable and then I saw a cable that has an S-VIDEO (male) and the component cables (red, green, blue - female), I was wondering, would I be able to plug in a PS3 to those cables and then connect the S-VIDEO end in my graphics card? Thanks..

You should've asked the question differently. It should've been:

Will it work if I plug my VGA to the PS3 using S-VIDEO cables?

The answer would have to be, NO! The Cell Processor is programmed to communicate with RSX and the RSX only.

And as far as your question go, YES you will be able to plug it using S-VIDEO cables!

But that wasn't my question. The question was if I were to connect the S-VIDEO cable which has female component cables on the other end and then I plug the PS3 component cables into the female ones, would that work? Nothing to do with VGA?

I don't really get what you are asking. If you think that by plugging your PS3 into your graphics card you are going to get improved performance you are very wrong. Like the guy said before, they are both outputs, so all you are doing is sending a picture out of both the PS3 and the GPU and............ why am I trying to explain this!

It won't do anything!

Isn't that what questions and forums are for? To ask around and get some answers? Also, I found that question off of someone else in another forum, he posted in 2006 and he never got his post replied to, so, I'm asking here now, idiot.

Male = Would need to plug it into something.

Female = Would need something being plugged into it.

No need to be rude? Tells me it's a stupid idea when I ask for answers, yeah, that's not rude at all. Also, I don't have a PS3, if I was able to do what I was asking, I would probably buy a PS3, since I can't, I guess I'll wait for something to connect a PS3 and my monitor together.

The only HDMI to VGA converter on the market, atleast the only one I know of, is the HDFury, a device I think I have pointed out to you in another thread...

Its $149.

Just to add another option...a cheaper one, you could use a VGA Box and component cables.

Which would the PS3 look better on? Would I be able to play in HD using both methods?

To get full 1080p resolution, use an HDMI to DVI-D cable (or an HDMI cable hooked up to an HDMI to DVI converter). The monitor will have to have HDCP support, however.

you would be able to view HD using both devices...One might cost a little more than the other thats the only real difference.

You also will only be able to view full 1080p if the montior supports resolutions as high as 1920x1080
