Is it a wireless router? Do you want to connect to the router wirelessly, or with an ethernet cable? If you reply with the brand and model number of your router it may help.

Is it that flat and curvy one? I've heard issues with those. This may be a solution but don't count on it: What level of protection do you have on ex: WEP. If you have security on. Turn it off and try it again. If this works then keep on upping the security till you hit a snag. If you must go no security I would get a new router or at least turn MAC filtering on. Good luck!
