I am currently useing a wireless router with a 160 GB ps3 (was the 40 GB originaly) I have been using it for almost a year, and it just started having connection problems about a week ago. The stats say it has a 65% connection which is normal, but when I play online it lags like none other. I always have 1 bar connection and cannot stand it anymore. COD:WaW worked fine when i got it, but now i either get lagged out, or if I'm host the game instantly ends. With LBP I spawn and the other guy is already dead somewhere, or he randomly vanishes and I just die. MC:LA join the game and instantly get kicked out. I took it to a friends house and still had the same problems, so I'm quite sure it's the PS3. Should I send it in? Or what should I do? I haven't tried direct connection, but my ps3 is about 80 FT from the computer down a flight of stairs, though that didn't affect it in the past. I thought with 65% connection it wouldn't be as bad as it is. Suggestions?
Do you have WEP protection for your router? Maybe someone is stealing your internet if you havent enabled some form of protection. Do you have interference by any wireless TV tuners? I have a tuner that sends TV from my loungeroom to the other two televisions in my house. They receive a lot of interference from the wireless connection. If I were you though, I'd call your service provider and ask them how your connection looks from their end. My internet was incredibly slow, when I called them they said I was uploading an enormous amount of stuff. Turn off your bit torrents if that's the case. If it's none of the above then I'd consider a new router - though yours appears to be fairly new it may have a problem you're unaware of.
well, I have the same problem at my friends house. It's not just here. I took it over there to see if anything changed but still had the same problems at 75% connection. Is it the PS3, or the servers, or what? I plan on trying a DC tomorrow, if nothing changes i might check my warranty to send it back. Sorry about the delayed response...
