Honestly you've already answered the question yourself. You like the previous systems and you like the Playstation franchises, so you will not be disappointed with a PS3. The online is excellent for the games I've played (Resistance, Motorstorm). The future line-up looks great and the games out now (contrary to what you read in system wars) are good.
When I made my choice I listed the titles I wanted for both systems and decided I wanted more PS games than MS games. It was really a pretty easy choice after actually writing them down.
In the end, it's all about the games. Don't buy the "lemming" crap about the system not selling and Sony being in trouble. We all know there is a huge PS fanbase, and many of these owners will purchase a system in a year or two when the price drops.
I haven't been able to play one myself, but I have always been a fan of the Playstation Line-Up.
I am just curious if it has lived up to your expectations.
Considering I am spending $600+
I just want to hear from the experiences you've had has it been a worth-while system thus far.
I am also curious as to the online aspect. I like the idea of FREE instead of $50 haha.
I've looked at the line-up and I see a lot of great games coming out!rockokla4life
Best $600 I've spent in a long time. Right now I'm into about $500 worth of games. I haven't had more fun spending $1100 since that weekend in Tijuana. LOL!

It has lived up to my expectations and then some. But it really depends on your budget. If you have to live on cans of cream of corn for a few months to afford one then it probably isn't for you.  You will probably end up regretting it because you spent so much of your disposable income on it. It won't make you breakfast, love you or tuck you in at night. But what it does do, it does well, much better then I expected. I love the blu-ray player, the built-in versatility, the build quality of the unit, the ability to install linux. From what we have seen from the online is a mixed bag. Sony released titles have fantastic lag free online play. 3rd party titles are more questionable. Hopefully Sony will offer them more support in the future. I'm not big on online play but I like to go on once in a while so I love the "free" model Sony has adopted. I paid $50 for a year of Live and I've used it maybe a total of 10 times (and that is rounding up). I really feel like I wasted my money on it especially since my 360 is broken now..... I dont like little kids screaming in my ear so the relative silent online play is music to my ears.Â

If I told you it bit me, would that deter you from buying one?
You need to test it out yourself and read independent reviews. Coming to a PS3 board, you're only going to hear "Yes" answers.
And my answer is yes. It was well worth it.Â

Great reply. Most of these guys posting the "Convince me to buy a PS3" posts usually already know which system they want or are just trying to start a system war.Â

Especially when they list the reasons in the same post that they're asking the question.Â
Funny you'll pay $600 on a system then compalin about paying $50 for a far superior online experiece. Master__Shake
Funny how you say the games are so great and the online environment is so great for a certain system, and yet, you still find the urge to come here and nag at us.

Granted, I haven't stepped over to the Wii/Xbox360 boards but I wonder if they have so many desperate fanboys coming in to start problems. Must be a jealousy thing.
I, having stepped foot in System Wars once, have seen how horrific the Sony bashing can get outside of here. :DÂ

lol, yeh, it's pretty gruesome. Guess there are a lot of Xbox 360 fanboys who feel they need to prove why shelled out for one.
To the thread starter, My choice is the PS3 and I've made that based on facts rather than Bias. I owned a Gamecube, Xbox and PS2 in the last generation and an N64 and Playstation in the last Generation so I'm not a die hard fanyboy.
HOWEVER, having said that, each to their own. I suggest you go and try out both systems before buying either. Try to play first party games as they show off the system more and also keep future proofing in mind (ie. future games, console life span)Â
PS3's don't break as often; on my third 360. Get the system you enjoy playing the most, which ever one it may be.

why should i care what a bunch of children on a ps3 board think? I'm a 28 year old and I own all 3 current gen systems. If you can't accept the fact that people have the money to buy systems then you're obviously a broke kid. I just like to come here because the people that post in this forum think their ps3 will make them breakfast in bed, and have such fragile self esteem that the freak out if someone says somethign bad about the system.
Â
So to the origianl poster. WAit on the ps3, a price drop is imminant and there is nothing on it making it worthwhile for your purchase if you have a 360. Unless u just need Bd's. That's the only I use mine for now that I finished gow2 on the ps3.
Well start acting like a 28 year old an stop posting childish rants why you think the PS3 is garbage.[QUOTE="Warkunt"][QUOTE="Master__Shake"][QUOTE="rockokla4life"]I haven't been able to play one myself, but I have always been a fan of the Playstation Line-Up.

all that stuff you spoke about above is basically doesn't justify why people should pay for online gaming and most of that stuff are basically useless. Full length movies on HD is not part of that $59.99 you put out. You have to pay extra for that. Update daily basically proves that the 360 was rushed out the door.

I believe you. :roll:Â
My honest opinion:
The good - Games have been great, but there honestly is a shortage of good ones. Resistance, Motorstorm, and Oblivion are all great... and I still play them. That being said, when I get a good new game I play obsessively for a while, and nothing else has been able to get me into that mode for a while.... and not much help is on the way too soon. I also have disappointed with the online support of third party games that I enjoy playing (2k sports games) against friends.
The good - RFOM. A lot of shooters have multi-player fun within them, but I also found the single player to be fantastic. Motorstorm. Just a great racer. It's a bit shallow but is still incredibly fun.  Blu-ray movies are incredible. I am a fairly avid movie watcher, and am pretty much a blu-ray snob now. I have had not one single technical problem, so that is great of course. In fact I am mad I was suckered into the warranty.
Final review - I am totally satisfied, but do want more. I do wish there were more games, but by the systems one year anniversary (of release in the US) I am highly confident that I will be utterly and completly happy.

It's not that kinda update, those come out every so often, same as PS3.
