can anyone tell me of a way to make x264 mkv's into a file format the ps3 supports?

every time i try ps3video9 it does an instant convert through the mkv passthrough and i get a 33kb non working file.

Sorry bud, I don't know how to convert them, but I do use TVersity, which transcodes and streams all file types to my PS3, including x264, mkv, etc.

I didn't like tyversity laggy and just to many problems I used mkv2vob www.videohelp.com/tools/mkv2vob . No transcoding or recompression is done the streams are simply split and mux into a vob which is playable on ps3. The only downside i had was you cant rewind or fastfoward but picture was great and no lag. I have a external hard drive ,so if you dont have one you should get one just makes it easier to transfer files from my computer and store them without taking up space on my ps3 plus i can take it anywhere to watch shows on a friends computer or ps3.

To be honest, I have no idea about the subtitles; I've never used them with my streaming files.

Regarding video quality - I have my PS3 on a wired connection to my router, and I do not have any lag, and video quality is superb. Do be aware that I use it with 720p files at most. It could very well lag with 1080p, but I do not know.

You can post the question on the tversity forums and you should get a quick answer. It took a little bit of fiddling and configuration before I was able to stream all types of files, but once you get it to work, it's all worth it. I keep all my files on my PC, and it does not take up space on my PS3's harddrive, nor do I need to transfer any files to an external drive of any type.
