So I'm getting my act together and am currently in the process of converting my spare bedroom into a gaming room. I plan on taking my ps3 and wii into the room away from the living room (though the wife won't let me take the 360 cos she loves Call of Duty 2 online multiplayer too much).

I was looking for a bit of advice on what the best value/quality 32" tv is at the moment? I was thinking of maybe getting a samsung as I know they're widely used and popular, but was wondering whether a Sony Bravia would be better seeing as I'll be using a PS3 on it mainly?

Any help would be very much appreciated. I live in the UK btw.

Thanks in advance guys.

p.s. I hope to have my gaming room finished in time for the release of GT5 Prologue - the wife hates serious racing games.

I have my system running on a 32 inch Bravia and it looks great. The only thing is I kinda wish I waited before getting a sound system and went with a much better sound system than what I have now (although it works ok it just doesn't have HDMI support). That could really make the sound that much better with Blu-Ray.

I own 3 HDTV's. A pioneer, Sony Bravia, and Samsung, and all im gonna say is stay away from Samsung. Sony gives out the best picture. Up close, Samsung TV's are show off alot of jaggies, games like Burnout, DMC, Mass Effect looked jaggie. Pioneer is also very good, but is a plasma so it will give burn ins after excess amount of playing.

Some Sony HDTV's have this new tech that smoothens out jaggies on Tv's. My current sony one does it, even though there is a minute difference, but it sure as hell crisp.

Sony Bravia FTW

Congratz. I just did this at my house and both the wife and I love the new room. She can watch Opra and Extreme Home Makeover all she wants. As far as a TV goes get a Panasonic Plasma. A lot of people in this topic will tell you to stay away from plasma but they are either uneducated or dont have the cash to put down on one. You cant beat the picture, contrast rates, and refresh times. Plasma is the best if you have the money to do so. And if anyone says "plasmas have burn in" (where the image burns into the screen) then you will know how misinformed they really are.

Bring on the flamers.....

I've read a post similiar to this and most of the people had Sony Bravia's for 32". Then I went to a bookstore and found a magazine showing the best output/quality for each size of HDTVs and it mentioned that Sony Bravia's is currently #1 for purchasing a 32" HDTV.

But for 37" and higher, Samsungs, Vizios and other Brands were most preferred for bigger TVs. This magazine had a list/chart to compare HDTV's for newbies like me.

If your looking for a good value and quality tv, check out the Olevia series 2, the picture is great and its half the price of a Sony or Samsung.

I converted mine about a year ago. 40 inch JVC LCD (my next will be plasma). Just do not let the missus in it. Next thing you know you will have bunny slippers, half eaten crackers and Cosmo's (the mag not the drink) everywhere. Women ruin a man's game room.

Plasmas dont get burn in anymore, they have a pixel shift function that prevents it nowadays.

Plasmas also have much better contrast and colour reproduction, but finding a cheap 1080p plasma is hard, most large cheap plasmas are not FULL 1080p HD, but if you can afford a nice 1080P plasma though, your not going to go wrong.

Some of the 40inch plus 1080p Sony Bravias LCD's are amazing, First time i saw a Blu-Ray and GT HD on a KDL40XBR my mouth was :o , they are a good cheaper alternative to an expensive Plasma.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

I think I'm gonna look at getting Bravia now seeing as that seems to be the most popular opinion on here. I don't really want anything bigger than a 32" TV as it's going to be wall-mounted and anything wider than that would overhang on the doorway.

I also own 42 inch Bravia. For some reason My PS3 connect s better with my 42 inch Bravia than my 40 inch JVC (which is 2 years newer). Coincidence Mabe? Just keep the wife out of your game room and you're all aces.

But in all seriousness. Samsung is rated a better TV across the board for videophiles. It gives way better picture customization options. The Bravia, on the other hand, will have "special" features with other sony products. Sony always does this... like with the Sony Ericsson and Playstation Home; however, in practicallity.. No one really ever uses it (I've got sony products before, and I never use these "features". I am, however, interested in the Sony Ericcson thing).
