This is THE system to own if you like Strategy RPG's.
- Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness
- Jeane d'Arc
- Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions
To name a few. There are also some good RPG's, such as:
- The Legend of Heroes Series (I-III here in the US). - Which if you can get past the bland combat and iffy dialog is an entertaining game.
- Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth - It might be a port of a PSX title, but it was a good game then as it is now.
- Final Fantasy I, II - They're classics... and they look gorgeous on the PSP. That said, you have to enjoy old turn based strategy games... because these won't hold your hand and they really cannot stand up to the flash and pomp of modern games.
And some good action games, such as:
- Metal Gear Portable Ops
- Siphon Filter
- Along with a large collection of arcady type games,
- Lumines I, II.
- Puzzle Quest
- flOw
- R-Type
- Murcury
- Lemmings.
And many more.
Plus, the PSP is one sweet multimedia device. If you shell out the money for a larger memory card, it can become a wonderful portable movie/video/music player. The web browser isn't great, as it resizes websites funny, but it works.
Also, if you ever add a PS3 to your collection, this sweet baby can Remote Play your old PS1 games. Though only games prior to analogue required control. What Remote Play does is your PSP wirelessly connects to your PS3 through a network, from any hotspot, and you can see and control what your PS3 runs. It's not exactly as great as actually having the game on your PSP, but it is the next best thing. I've gotten hours of fun playing Final Fantasy VIII on my PSP.
As that last paragraph alluded to, the PSP can download certain games straight onto its memory card. Sony occasionally releases old PSX games in a format that the PSP can play. My favorites so far are Wild ArMs and MidEvil.
All in all, it is a wonderful buy, the gaming library may have a rather dim future right now, but it already has a very solid base, if you only give the games a shot.
lol, that's what I get for not reading through all the posts. Congrats on your buy.
