So while dealing with a problem with my first PS3, I had to talk to SONY and addressed this very problem. They said: "NEVER TURN IT OFF BY THE BACK SWITCH WHEN THE SYSTEM IS ON, THIS CAN CAUSE DATA LOSS AND INTERNAL SYSTEM DAMAGE."
You can turn off the back switch in standby mode if you want to. If your system freezes, they suggest you hold the front button for 10 sec, which will cause a "soft reset". After talking to them, I looked through the manual more closely, and the warning about the back power button is in the manual as well.
just with the front button dude i guess i hope i get my ps3 today, btw do u kno where to get component cables for the ps3 or can u just use any component cable?aero4444You can get them at gamestop, ebgames, funcoland, walmart, and plenty of other places. Also you could use the ps2 component cables for the ps3 but they are of less quality
i have hdmi too tho, is it gonna work fine or is it gonna have problems like people are saying with black screen and stuff? ill be running it on a 50' Sammy DLPaero4444Get hdmi it will look better and yes hdmi works fine with the ps3.
