Corrupted data. pls advise.

after downloading "the bourne conspiracy demo" successfully. i click and installed it. what happen next was unexpected. there was blackout in my area.but after 10 minutes the electricity was back up. boot up my ps3 40 gb there i saw "a corrupted data icon" listed under the "game". so i tried deleting it and and error message (8001002A) pops out. no matter how much i tried i can't seem to delete it. any help/advise/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

try formatting the console, but you will loose all ya game saves and whatever else you have got unless you back them up onto another drive or somthing.

the good thing is the ps3 still works fine. it reads the game disc with no problem. but the fact is the "corrupted data icon" is 0kb when i click on "information"about it. so let's just say i format the console what about games that i have purchased on the network store like "pain". do i need to repurchase it again the next time? the other question is what's the difference between "format" and "restore" on the ps3? thanks any help would be greatly appreciated.

the good thing is the ps3 still works fine. it reads the game disc with no problem. but the fact is the "corrupted data icon" is 0kb when i click on "information"about it. so let's just say i format the console what about games that i have purchased on the network store like "pain". do i need to repurchase it again the next time? the other question is what's the difference between "format" and "restore" on the ps3? thanks any help would be greatly appreciated.

All your downloads from store are free 2nd time around-go to store+click on downloads near your user name.Restore just puts PS3 settings back to factory defaults,format wipes everything from hard drive so basically you're back to day 1

i forgot another question. let's just say if i decide to "format" my ps3, how do i go about in reinstalling the ps3 os? thanks.

i also have the same problem except it is a call of duty 3 corrupted data. i just wanted to delete the memory and my ps3 froze the exact time it was deleteing. 20 minutes later i went back on and it said corrupted data and now my ps3 keeps on freezing in the middle of a game and in the home screen this has been happening before ( the freezing part ) and i want to get ride of the corrupted data (it is 14mb ) plz tell me how to get rid of it and fix my ps3

you dont need to instal the ps3 os, its in the firmware, u will just have to update it to 2.4 :D
