Could putting a similar, but different charger cord into my PSP cause it to die?

I just got a PSP for X-Mas, but lost the charger. When the PSP died I had to order another charger, but in the meantime, I tried to charge it using a similar-looking cord (a yellow tip on the end). When using this cord nothing at all happened. Now I got my new charger, but it still won't turn on, everything's just dead. Like I said, everything is brand new, so I'm sure it's not a battery problem. Could putting that other cord in my PSP caused it to die? There's probabaly no way around buying a new PSP I guess...

Thanks, Brad

yep. very possible. If the specs on the correct charger and the wrong charger dont match up you can cause a short. but you can probably just buy a new battery from Target, walmart, Bestbuy, amazon.com or whatever. Fortunately the psp battery is easy to remove and relatively cheap.

If I was you FIRST i would get the correct charger. if it doesnt work, then plug your psp into your PC using a microUSB cable. If that doesnt do anything, THEN buy a battery. If that doesnt work, THEN the psp is probably broken. goodluck!
