Personally I didn't care for it. The gameplay and character progression is pretty bad. The story is alright but it's just another average Nojima story which more plot holes to the FFVII story line.

Gameplay and character progression bad? Story alright? Average? Sure it was, and Superman 64 was the best game EVER.
It was pretty awesome. Characters were pretty likeable and the story was really engrossing. As someone who never played FF7, the ending totally caught me off guard. This game can get pretty emotional at times. Gameplay wise it was really good as well, kinda a mix of action and turn-based. There`s a pretty deep customization feature here where you can basically create your own moves, attacks, magic, and even equipment. The graphics in this game are amazing, and the CGI cutscenes even more so. The only downside is the side missions can get repetitive.
I say $10 well spent. Enjoy this gem OP.

To each their own. Personally I didn't feel that way.In my opinion the game is little more than an interactive film (as the rest of the series has become) - Squeenix have shown themselves to be adept in handling scripted character animations and pre-rendered sequences more than anything else. The highpoint of the actual gameplay is probably the materia fusion which comes up with some unexpected results, but the majority of the game is made up of run-of-the-mill third-person action made interesting by the top-shelf (by PSP standards) visuals.
The story is (along with a lot of Japanese art) is of extreme fantasy, so if you appreciate attention to detail and a believable narrative then this is not for you. The emotional parts of the story seem unjustified because some aspects are either lost in translation or simply MAKE NO SENSE to someone unfamiliar with Japanese culture. I can't get my head around some of the things that happen in the story - like the ending scene where Zack gives all of the characters an apple, which is supposed to be some sort of metaphor that was never really established in the first place.
As I said, this is barely a game - more an interactive movie.
Amazing game, and really is the most emotional game I have played, Zack is a great character, and it really sucked me in and made me feel for him. I honestly didn't care for the combat much, it was okay, but nothing great. But that's fine, the story, and characters are really good, and make up for it. And the music is incredable as well.
And yeah, I am not usually the type to cry over a game or movie plot, but I was pretty damn close to doing it here, lol.
Guessing since you are asking about the game, you're not buying it for it being Final Fantasy VII, right?
Alright then, good.
This game is a great stand alone game, where you get to play as a guy who wanted to be a hero by joining the local military branch only to get swept up in things beyond his control (bio-engineering, beach vacations, etc.). It's pretty faithful to the original title (when it has room to stretch it's legs), but in certain other parts, it's a total retelling of events, with new characters being added in, and some missing altogether...kinda like Norse mythology, which FFVII hints at on a fairly constant basis with the names of towns, summons, etc.
As a character, Zack is pretty basic, being the happy go lucky kinda guy, but he grows on you as you play through the game. He has his dream, which he'll stop at no cost to achieve...however, his resolve is going to be tested when he comes face to face with the challenges that lie before him. He's going to make new friends, sometimes reluctantly, and he's going to make new enemies. He's a lot like Sora in demeanor...except well, his ending is completely different, and he's more about pride in his own ability than relying on someone else for assistance.
Combat is good (and I'm saying this with a rich, luscious baritone voice if this means anything to some of you), and it keeps you on your toes, because there will be times you have to equip to prevent one hit deaths, or make it so when you find yourself running low on items, you can mug an enemy (which does a surprisingly good deal more damage than if you attack with a sword...guess he hit it with the fist of a god). It's not a mindless hack and slash all the time, so keep in mind some enemies are just going to be crazy talented...and aim for the weak point for critical damage!
Sure, the game has its downfalls, such as newly established characters that go nowhere in the series, or how limiting it feels to play in game with multiples of the same map with different restrictions and starting points (but then again, you're playing on a preset area because this is a past event in the series, not a new one, and the character is on assignment, so he has to act accordingly)...but it also has it's amazing moments, in terms of gameplay (which has an amazing thing called Materia Fusion, allowing you to mix your various spells to make new ones: aim for Dark Thundaga!). And again, combat keeps one on their toes.
Just play it a bit, and make sure to enjoy it. It's the first of the FFVII series' chronological order, so not much needs to be explained.
I loved it, it's very emotional and I smiled and cried a lot, but part of the reason is because I've played FF7. Have you? If not, it's hard to say how it will affect you. Personally it's one of my favorite games, I just love it.

I have played FFVII serveral times but Its been a long tim since I last played it so I forgot a lot so I've been replaying it mostly to remember how the ending went down. I'm almost finished with the game. I'm at the final save point at the bottom of the crater before you fight sephiroth. So after I'm done I'll play Crisis Core. I still haven't watched Advent children either. It was a fun game and even though the story was a bit pointless it was nice to return to the FF7 universe. Its actually my favourite PSP game :), the fact I dislike prequels generally speaks highly for the fact I did enjoy this.
probably one of the best psp titles out there side missions are a waste of time though but the main story is what keeps you playing
Yeah it's a good game, it was the first ever FF game iv played, it has great voice acting in my opinion and the graphics are cool. Haven't finished it yet so couldn't tell you how long it is. You got it for a bargain!
I totally disagree with this! If anything the latter side missions are hard as hell but hella rewarding. You can get some really good materia and summons from them! It just takes patience and skill to get pass them...the benefits are worth it though. You'll end up pwning the main story missions with the extra things you've picked up in the side missions.side missions are a waste of time though

The gameplay isn't very good. The combat system is pretty basic, and the side missions have no variety. Basically, it's a game that only big FF7 fans will appreciate because it doesn't have much going for it besides graphics. If you only spent $10 on it though, even if you end up disliking the game, it's not a big loss.
You should get very good value at the price you bought it for. I found certain parts of the game didn't really feel like I was in the same world as FF7, but other parts that did were much better and a lot more fun.
Overall I thought it was cool, which is just as well as that was the game that finally made me cave in and buy a PSP. :P
The game was fun. It has a decent battle system. The story was good, but it can get a bit confusing if you don't pay attention. I enjoyed the side missions mostly for the materia you get.
the Gamestop online store. Got a brand new copy of San Andreas too for $20 bux. I refuse to buy from Gamestop in store but I'll buy from them online but I prefer Amazon. I also refuse to ever sell my games to them for store credit ever again. Everyone know's they rip you off. They never used to. It was when they started merging with EB Games is when they became money grubbers I think.Where did you find it for $10?
Lava_Lord
The people that work there are always rude too no matter which one you go to. Its like they think they are almighty or something lol. They are making like 8 bux an hour lol and they act cocky. I usually get good service online though from them. I had store credit so that was the main reason why I bought from them. ok anyway totally off subject.
You think people who work in the military get completely unique mission assignments all the time? The gameplay isn't very good. King9999
The guy is in a company sponsored militia called SOLDIER...I mean, if that doesn't tell you it's a military-based operation, what will?
Besides...last I checked, gameplay is pretty challenging, and the combat system is pretty legit. It starts out basic, because all games do that in the beginning...but it doesn't end up being basic, otherwise, anyone could have slaughtered everything that came across their path without dying once or using a Phoenix Down...which is next to impossible, because there are enemies in the game you have to do side missions for to get the equipment to have their techniques be less effective on you. It's a little hard to find the Shin-Ra Beta+ any other way, and it's an item that greatly boosts defense early on in the game.
On that note: Side missions. Missions that are not part of the main game. Missions that mean nothing to the main story. Extra content that does not need to be unique, since it is only a vehicle taking you from one mission to another and rewarding you with items and loot in the process. There's some backstory given in the description, but it's simple objectives, like any military organization out there. (Military funding doesn't allow for missions with the objective of 'rescue the Queen of England while giving a reacharound to you partner while you're sky diving from a helicopter at these precise coordinates all while dressed up as a flock of angry Jewish penguins. If any of these factors are missing in the middle of your ballet recital, this mission is a failure.' In fact, they can't do that, because a good deal of the soldiers out there are complete morons, the beer and pizza frat crowd, really.)
Those missions, as unglorious taskwork as it can seem, all serve a purpose, sure, not the most exciting, but no one gets the exciting jobs all the time, so way to go on criticizing some of the realism in a game.
That was my favorite game on psp. It's quite lengthy and you got it cheap. I'd be happy ;DI just picked it up for $10 bux brand new. how is it?Is it any good? Is it a long game or is it a short one story wise? It should be coming in the mail either tomorrow or tuesday? Thanks ahead of time to anyone who shares their opinion.

I'm not the greatest Final Fanstasy fan. However I did like this game, It is worthy but kinda of uneven at times. The Storyline was alright, I thought the combat system was very good. This was one of the rare Final Fanstasy game that I stuck with to the end, The music was better the most PSP games. I got my copy for 10.00 new. For that price I cannot go wrong. Crisis Core is worth picking up and playing. I wish thatPSP had more like this with used the PSP capabilites to do a great job with this game. The controls are easy to learn.
Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII is worth it.
