I'll be honest I somehow never played this game until now, and I have got to say that for a portable 3-D RPG this is game is awesome. I'm not what you would call a die hard RPG fan by any means but I found this game for 5 dollars and decided to give it a whirl. Now I can't stop playing it. The power surge thing is awesome and I like how you can fuse your abilities into more bad A ones. The combat is pretty fun too, especially since I'm not such a fan of turn based games

The game is epic.

For a handheld the graphic is super great. The story is very satisfying especially if you've played FF7. The music is superb and has the best music in a FF game since FFIX. The combat is fun, it's fast paced and while many dislike the slot machine mechanic I liked it because it made things interesting, watching old flashbacks and cutscenes etc!

Perhaps the biggest problem is that it's a bit too linear but I forgive them because it's a psp game and it's great. The game is too easy on "normal" though but I kinda had a hard time on "hard", I feel as if there perhaps should've been another difficulty level.

Totally a 10/10! The best PSP game!

5 Dollars? Definitely a steal! :D Having played through the story 3 times, I really enjoyed it a lot. Great cutscenes, attack modes, very long and enjoyable story. I think the only problem I did have with this game, is trying to level up. Which basically runs on chance... (At least for me it did) Nonetheless I would give the game a 9/10/ :)

I played through it twice, and it was great. However, I disliked the battle system. I honestly think it would've made a better movie.

I really enjoyed Crisis Core. I'm not a huge FF7 fanboy, but the game does a pretty good job of fleshing out Zack a bit more, and I appreciated that. It's not a perfect game, but if you can get it for 5 bucks, then you're getting a pretty cool game for an awesome price.

I think it was good but the voice acting could have been done better or at least Square Enix could launch a subtitled version as a dlc. =(

Even though I liked FFVII I wasn't the biggest fan of it, but Crisis Core was too damn amazing. The soundtrack (especially "The Burdened") is amazing, the combat is very nice and the controls are responsive. The story, needless to say, was perfect and honestly the way they executed the ending made it even better.

I felt FF7 was a painfully sub-par JRPG but loved Crisis Core for its character development and overall presentation.

It felt fun at first but then the repetative nature of the side missions and the combat just got to me. Started feeling like a chore rather than a fun game. Didn't like the DMW system either. It felt much more enjoyable on hard mode though. All I needed was cure materia and a load of button mashing the entire game on normal mode.

Thats what sucks is that it currently isn't on the Playstation Store for download, so it won't be playable on Vita. One of the reason's I went ahead and got a new PSP after my old one broke. Some games just aren't available yet. Glad to see everybody else enjoyed it as much as I am, I'm already getting ready to get the psone games and the PS3 games to try.

I never beat it. I only played a few hours of it before I first stopped playing. A year later, I restarted and spent much more time with the game, but I just couldn't get into the combat. Though trying out new skills and discovering all the slot reel combos (Chocobo Time summon anyone?) was extremely fun, I still lost interest and never picked it back up. I've barely played FFVII though, so I didn't have that special connection many others had.

It's the reason I bought a PSP in the first place and it's still the best game I've played on it. Nothing has come even close, actually.

I actually liked the English voice acting, especially for Genesis and Reno because of their slight cowboy accents. The US version has subtitles.

Hrm, maybe I should give this another try :P I played a few hours of it and the cut-scenes put me off. It just seemed to be a game built on Sephiroth fan service. Not that fan service is ever really a bad thing, it just felt rather over done in my opinion.

The story really is more about Genesis and Zack. Sephiroth got much to do with it ofcourse, so he also has a significant role in it. Pretty logic.

I thought it was mediocre, personally. I don't like the mission format: it just makes it seem like Squenix tried to make it look like their was a lot to Crisis Core, but there really wasn't. I remember the game being extremely easy, too. The only thing I give this games props for is the ending, while it's a little over dramatic it's still extremely effective. The gameplay was repetitive and boring and most of the characters were pretty laughable. I remember when FF7 first came out. Zack was my favorite character and that's saying somthing... because you saw him about two times in the whole game. He was so mysterious and that appealed to me... this game just butchered what I thought Zack was going to be like. Most of the FF7 spin-offs are mediocre, I think... they're good for a quick whirl, but there's not much depth and they get boring quickly.

Although it's been a while since I've played it, I can honestly say it's my favorite PSP game. It had great gameplay and added onto the FFVII story amazingly well, which was nice to see for once.

I found it absolutely horrible and took my used copy back to Gamestop to get something else. It was way too linear, repititive and the characters didn't match their original FFVII personas.

Whatever, I thought it was much better than the mediocre game it's a prequel to. Crisis Core's presentation had heart. FF7's was hollow in comparison. Also, just try to tell yourself FF7 (and almost every JRPG ever) wasn't linear. Try. Just because they give you a "world map" doesn't mean you can skip past the main story. It doesn't make the game any more open-ended. At least Crisis Core didn't beat around the bush with the illusion of freedom known as the world map. And those missions, man. If you didn't play through all the missions and defeat Minerva, you don't know jack about Crisis Core's replay value.

Um... No. To me, Crisis Core was better in terms of story, dialogue, character development, emotional impact, and overall presentation. To say FF7 was better than Crisis Core is to say the original Super Mario Bros, Metroid, or Zelda are better than their 16-bit counterparts, just because you grew up with the 8-bit games. Try taking off the nostalgia goggles before you post again. The only aspect of FF7 I felt was better was its soundtrack, and even then, some truly great compositions were ruined by poor sound engineering, such as One-Winged Angel. (there was no proper version of that track until the orchestrated version came along.)

1. It's a prequel. Not a sequel.

2. While Sonic 3 & Knuckles was the last Sonic game I personally enjoyed, and while Sonic 3D Blast was a letdown for many, I can see Sonic Adventure 1 & 2-- even though I didn't personally care for them-- as legitimately good games, from an objective point of view. Sort of like how I can respect Ocarina of Time or Halo 1 as being good despite not enjoying them very much at all. For the longest time since then, the "Sonic Cycle" came into effect, though Sonic Colors broke the cycle by being a surprisingly good game. Sonic Generations also looks like it will be good, and with the Sonic Cycle broken by Colors, I feel it's safe to make that statement.

I don't even care. I personally did not like FF7 that much (at least after disc 1). To me, Crisis Core is the game that FF7 should have been. I'm not just talking graphically. I mean in terms of character development and legitimate dramatic impact. I got watery-eyed during the montage where Zack inherited the Buster Sword from Angeal, and outright cried during the ending. FF7? I laughed when Aeris died. And yes, I played it in '97 with the rest of the world.

Thanks for just proving that you don't know what you're talking about. I can now disregard you, seeing as you can't even hold a legitimate argument.

"FF7 was one of the best in gfx"? Panzer Dragoon II Zwei and NiGHTS into Dreams-- two Sega Saturn games from 1996-- beat FF7's battle models a year in advance.

"Real emotion" made me laugh, apparently. Sorry, lego-men sorta killed the "dramatic" situations for me. And, the engrish... "This guy are sick." "Come planet!" "To the settling of everything!" Worst translation ever.

"Too much talking"? It's an RPG, get used to it. "childeish"? For one, it's spelled childish. Two, if you want childish, look no further than Barret and Cid's potty-mouths.

Now this is an argument. :D Seriously though, Final Fantasy VII does have a few things going for it, most notably the open-world exploration. But I agree, Crisis Core is much more modern, FFVII just doesn't hold up anymore. If if was remade and retranslated, then we'd have a better game on our hands.

Crisis Core is quite a dramatically emotional game, probably a bit too much. But when you play the game and get caught up in the character's struggles, you don't really think about how cliché or unrealistic their lines are. All Final Fantasy games have this "problem" or trait, and to call it childish in Crisis Core isn't quite accurate. When you just go with the flow and accept that their world is vastly different from our own, you can accept that the characters are much more emotional than real human beings.

"give me example of other rpg better in gfx at 1996"

I'm not going to pander to your arbitrary thought process of cIassifying a game's graphical prowess based on its genre. Maybe they shouldn't have made a full 3D Final Fantasy until they could make the whole game up-to-par with its battle visuals, at least in terms of its models. Regardless, I've already named two games from 1996: Panzer Dragoon II Zwei, and NiGHTS into Dreams. Their 3D models are on par with, if not superior to, FF7's battle-only models.

"about the emotions - there is a lot of deapth -translations problems do not destroy the the story and its delivernce ,characters depth"

Yes, they do, I'm afraid.

"u just need to get use to it"

No, I don't need to. In fact, nobody should need to. I live in America, English is a primary language here, and when I pay $50 for a game, I want a top-notch translation. I apologize for having standards when it comes to legibility. Many an English professor would either shake their heads in shame or laugh outright upon reading FF7's engrish translation.

"crisis is so emotion base-i bet women like it"

The people who recommended it to me are men. Straight men, even. One of which is getting married this weekend, to a woman, no less. Why is it so wrong for someone to feel emotions, based on their gender? Joy, sorrow, love, hate, and other emotions are a natural part of sentient life, humans included.

"u can talk about a change in the battle system but the story? ur not thinking good"

What does this statement even mean? Please, reiterate this statement. I'm genuinely curious to know what you were trying to say. I've grown accustomed to reading gramatically-poor internet dialect but even I have my limits.

"u just love it cause it has a modern engine"

Nope. Guess what? My favorite game of all time is Radiant Silvergun, a Sega Saturn game from 1998. The game is mostly sprite-based. But go ahead, please throw more ad hominems at me. They're fun to disect.
