Cross-game voice chat & EA and Sony's relationship. A year later...

Anyone remeber that huge fiasco with EA and Sony last year where EA threatened sony that they were going to eliminate playstation 3 support all together if they (sony) added cross-game voice chat in a firmware update?

Well a year has pass sinced then and EA's and Sony's relationship has gotten better (i.e. sony's e3 confrenece). I wonder if they found a way to get around what ever EA was worried about with sony adding cross-game voice chat.

I thought the threat was because Sony wouldn't drop the price of the PS3 to a level EA said would sell consoles ($299)? Maybe I am thinking of Activision?

I think that is what it was.

And immediately after the Slim came out, Sony went on record saying "EA's threat had nothing to do with us lowering the price of our console or releasing the Slim."

The only thing that comes to mind with EA and Sony in regards to Cross game chat was the fact that there were a few games that wouldn't work well if Sony implemented cross game chat, and those games were EA games. This is why cross game chat hasn't come out yet. I dunno if it really effected their relationship. Oh, and if Activision dropped support, I wouldn't mind. Freaking Activision. PEELEDbanana

yeah if Activision cut support I really wouldn't care. they don't come out with much that is any good.
