I think this game deserves a lot more attention than it's getting. I tried the multiplayer beta a while back and yes, it did have some connection problems and the matchmaking system wasn't great, but once you found a match, it was fun. I really like the Nanosuit's powers and the strategy involved in conserving your energy, knowing when to use which power, and the game has a lot of clever ideas, like how you pick up dog tags for your killstreaks.

So recently, I was thinking of buying a new game and it's going to be either Killzone 3 or Crysis 2. I personally find Crysis 2 to be a lot more interesting, but the only thing I need to know first is how is the online community? I've been hearing a lot of people say that they can never find a match. Is it because of the game's connection problems or is nobody actually playing?

the game is fun but the servers are terrible. the lag is probably the worst i've ever experienced. there are people playing but the game is not at all worth it for the multiplayer

IMO KZ3 MP is better than Crysis 2's, and vice versa for SP. Both are great games. I think Crysis 2 is worth it for the campaign alone.

Really? I've heard many people say how unbalanced the Killzone 3 multiplayer is, with those invisible sniper cloaks, and considering how the sniper rifle is a 1 hit kill weapon, it sounds pretty bad. I've played the multiplayer beta for Killzone 3 as well and it didn't seem to be much of a problem there, but that was only because nobody had time to rank up and upgrade the cloak.

You're not wrong in saying that Killzone 3 MP can be pretty unbalanced. The Marksman with his invisible cloak and an assault rifle is pretty insane and gets annoying quick when they're camping in a corner waiting for someone to come by(if they only had a sniper rilfe with cloak all would be good)...However it's not all bad and with some skill there are ways around these cheap tactics.

KZ3 MP has really improved in terms of match-making (always finding full games nowadays) and lag (or lack thereof), for me at least. I was a huge Killzone 2 fan and although Killzone 3 is a slight step backwards, IMO it's still the best FPS multiplayer on PS3 right now

I haven't touched Killzone 3 other than the beta, but at any rate it has to be better than Crysis 2's multiplayer. The lag and hit detection issues are major issues that plague the multiplayer throughout. There are balancing issues as well... the ability to make yourself invisible (with the cloak feature) is rather overpowered, as some people tend to camp in certain areas, waiting for an unsuspecting player to pass by. The maps also seem uninspired and uninteresting, in my opinion.

As for the community itself, well, it's not going to last long. Shame I never did manage to get all those multiplayer trophies.

Crysis 2 multiplayer has been dead for some time now.....there's barely 80-150 people that join and even then it's once in a while

the only unbalanced thing in killzone 3s multiplayer is that lmg the engineer has for his third weapon unlock.

From what I've seen and played of Killzone 3, I agree that it improves on Killzone 2 in some ways and takes a step back in others. And my impression so far is that one of the latter is the story. I was pretty disappointed in the single player demo they had because the gritty feel of the second game was gone and was instead replaced by bad voice acting and cheesy lines (and Rico's afro... seriously, WTH?). I've heard that the Crysis 2 single player is still good, so I'm considering both single player and multiplayer before I pick a game. How is Killzone 3's story?

It's not as bad as some people make it out to be. You will find people using cheap tactics like any FPS, but you take them out easily when you know what they're doing. I'll get sniped, but then I'll just go to where they're camping and take them out, or someone else will before I get there. I really don't feel like it's unbalanced at all. I do enjoy the sniping though.

Killzone 3's story isn't so bad. As mentioned it is a bit of a step back from 2. I found the first quarter or so was pretty poor with little or no storyline connecting various set pieces. The story did seem to pick up for me further in though and there really are some awesome, huge scale set pieces that i really did enjoy and it is much more colourful and detailed with back grounds (as opposed to 2's various shades of brown). The ending is pretty contencious too, it seems that some (most) hated it, but I didn't mind it too much, left things open for Killzone 4 anyway.

I sold mine for a number of issues.

Matchmaking was pretty mediocre. Even if opposite team or your team had a bunch of low lvl'ed people, while the other team had a bunch of high level'd ones, the game won't balance the teams.

Also, the lag gets in the way most of the time.

The MP gets repetitive after a while since people rely on cloak 90% of the time.
