im not sure i dont think the ps3 can handle crysisradrac3r
People keep saying this...Here's the thing, Far Cry 2 is coming out for the ps3, and it's a more advanced game than Crysis. The problem would be that Crysis probably wouldn't work well as a port to the ps3. So, unless they are gonna redo the game from base, it may not turn out great.
As for not being able to handle it at all, even if redone, well, I don't agree with that either. It MIGHT not be able to look as good as very high settings, but I strongly believe they could make it look as good as high settings in Crysis, which is still better than what most people would be able to play it on their PC. As for the physics, the ps3 has more processing power than any PC available, so I'm not sure how that would be a problem, although it would have to be recoded. The developers on Far Cry 2 have said they are very impressed with the ps3 so far, so take that how you want.
Really though, the only reason they would release it on the ps3 (or 360) is because it didn't sell well for the PC. The game itself has no major strong point other than the graphics and a few physics things. The game itself is nothing special, but it was pretty good.

Yeah I saw PS3 screens of Far Cry 2 in PSM, and they look amazing. I really mean, amazing - nothing like I've seen on a console before. Killzone 2 will have serious competition.
Ok Far Cry 2 looks awesome but is NOT on the level of Crysis....ok max setting screen-shots of Crysis look like someone went outside and took a picture...and as stated before unless MAJOR change to crysis happens the 360 and ps3 lack the memory to run the game...it would load every 5 minutes. Im sure once developers understand the Cell better maybe but other then that no... The New 9series geforces only get average of 47 fps with crysis. And whats the RSX = to? A 7 series or something? A little more time.FightnEmu
How about you wait and see what the devs are capable of. If you didn't know, people have been saying "the console can't come close to what *insert game* looks like" for many years, Crysis wasn't the first. I am not saying the consoles will be able to match the PC completely, but saying they can't even run the game is silly. They can't run the game directly from the PC, especially the ps3, since it's a completely different architecture.
As for the graphics comparing FC2 to Crysis. In actuality, both games have a similar level of detail. FC2 is a little more stylized and gritty, while Crysis tries to go for the extreme realism. However, both games are definitely on the same level. Oh, and btw, just to mention, character models in Crysis are average, especially the common enemy, and if you seriously mistake them for real, you are near blind. (The scenery is nice, but again, definitely would never mistake it for real, and that goes for any game, including GT5 car models, which are far more "realistic" looking than anything in Crysis...and I'm not saying Crysis isn't the best looking game out at the moment.)
i wont comment on the rumors of crysis, but i will meantion what one of the devs who is porting the crytek engine to the ps3 said. He stated that he was surprised to see that the engine actually fit very well with the cell and was surprisingly easy (actually somewhat laughing about it during the interview) because he had heard all the past trouble with working with the cell and the fact the engine worked so well with it made him laugh. Now...not sure how well the engine is being optimized but who knows maybe High settings crysis is possible on the ps3...all those saying "rsx this" and crap dont realize the ps3 is unique. Unlike pc which have separate gpu and cpu, the cell is literally attached to the rsx in a weird way where the cell can actually produce graphicsand such on it's own...and this is like the 3980983093 topic that has been about/leaded to if crysis is possible on ps3 so...blah -_-CosmoKing7717
Far Cry 2 doesn't use the Crytek 2 engine, it uses the Dunia engine, if you are referring to the statement the guy made about Far Cry 2 transferring well to the ps3.
IF it came out on ps3 it would come out on 360.. It is possible... Both consoles are fairly powerfulthrasher2280
Well, FC2 is coming out for the 360 as well, so yeah, it would be, and I would guess it would be an easier port. Although, they wouldn't be able to use the processor to enhance the graphics like they could on the ps3. The main problem I see with both games is how the 360 could handle the physics, since the 360 processor is not that great.

There are tech demos of the engine out as well which say it is using the Dunia engine. Along with all the usual N4G, Joystiq, etc. info sites. It was built specifically for Far Cry 2.

In terms of multi-platform, there aren't many games, and no major differences. Some games do better on the 360, but it's because of lazy developers (EA).
