there's no way to add BC or extra USB ports (thats making your own console, also considered a form of modding, probably illegal and there's really no way you can get the parts for it without breaking down a PS3 yourself), but you can get custom paint jobs. heres the best site for it:

you can either buy a new ps3 with the paint job or send in yours. you can also get controllers.
I think this is the best option for custom ps3.. decalgirl skins for consoles you can switch in between then as many time as your money aloud... the predesign are really nice, she has tons of different options. Also you can make your own for more $$$ hope that helps.. :)
The only way of getting the hardware features you want is find a 60 gig PS3 that's used and expect to pay close to retail of the current PS3. I have a 60 gig and wouldn't sell it for any price.
