I'm highly dissapointed in this aspect I lovvee my PS3 to death but 99% of the games come with horrible soundtracks and seriously it's about time we start getting some games that let us customize to our musical tastes...why have we not seen this and are we even going to see it...Music+games = necessity...hoping its soon anyone have any idea?

I hope it comes soon.  Most of the music in Motorstorm is unbearable, except Nirvana of course.

It was stated to be included in a future firmware update. It will come, we don't know when, hopefully soon.

i guess i dont share 1/2 of the enthusiasm of this feature with anyone.  why is this such an important feature that someone has to mention it every week?  was it mentioned before the ps3 came out?  where the heck is this coming from that everyone is so pissed off that we can't listen to your own music in games?

yes it was mentioned in interviews and in fact notes of the ps3's ability and such...and games like Ridge Racer 7 look to have a hint of what looks like the ability to do it....your right some people of course could care less about this feature but for a lot of people we enjoy playing our games with music running in the background of the game and later on in sports games I can foresee the ability to edit player walk-up musics and such which would be fun to be able to edit certain music/sounds in games...but ya it is a needed feature for many people and i'm missing it lol!

Personally, I think it's great how they're moving with the firmware updates. They seem to be keen on finding all the little bugs and glitches and fixing those. Fix the back-end then implement features =)

Where it came from?  It should be a standard feature.  If a last gen console can have it, why not PS3?  I would love to play my own music in games that have licensed soundtracks, like racing games, because the music on the game usually sucks.  Just look at Motorstorm.  That game would be even more awesome with some intense death metal playing instead of that weak crap on the game.

it's just the commodity of having it at your fingertips and editable at all times to whatever you want mixed up in the game its easier that way then popping in mixes and wasting CD-rs for your own soundtracks to games hehe....but somedays id like to have some death metal playing an intense game and then maybe go with some marley or something another day and be able to edit it at my fingertips ya know?

Agreed, I want my $600 machine working properly before all the extra bells and whistles get implemented.

I strongly disagree... But that's my taste- it's the only sound track I actually enjoy.

Edit: Heh, read your 2nd post. Yea... Heavier metal would be awesome... But it ain't bad what's on there.

Yeah, I hate the ear bleeding junk they call pop music today. I want to put in my own stuff. Sync with the games I play would be nice...

Seperate speakers suck. One's louder than the other, you've got the game and your stereo sounds clashing. I want it to go together smoothly like the soundtracks do in games. X-Box 1 can do this (so I've heard), so I hope PS3 picks it up too.

Actually the xbox1 had to have the ability to play custom soundtracks built into the game, as for the 360 though its through the console itself. You just bring up the settings menu by pressing the home button while playing and either stream music from your HDD or Media center PC. Doesnt need to be built into the softaware like MS's last console.

The PS3 will get this soon. Just gotta have some patience, but I am a bit dissapointed that it doesnt have it yet.

I disagree. Its a great feature. I cant stand listening to most of the soundtracks that are built in to games now days. Its awesome playing racing games and action/FPS shooters and being able to listen to the music you like and not the lame soundtrack built into the game.

Only games I dont do this on are RPGs, and games with heavy story lines, as the scores are usually epic in those types of games, but for racing and action, there is nothing better than listening to metal:D

To each his own though.

Turn on a stereo if you don't like the in-game music. It's not that big of a deal.

exactly, i just turn down the game music and play my music in the stereo, simple as that. this feature is obviously not at the top of sony's to do list and i dont blame them other features should come first like upgrades to PSN, background downloading, homebrew dev kits for the garage developers like a net yaroze ultimate or something.

that english guy said they were working on homebrew and unlocking the GPU for home devs in a legal manner so they got a lot of stuff on their plate.

I admit that Motorstorm's soundtrack is getting REALLY annoying...

This feature would be very welcome.

That's not so easy to do.  I run my PS3 sound straight to my stereo receiver.  the same stereo receiver that I use to play music on.  You can;t have two inputs coming out of the receiver at the same time. Get it?

I wanted this feature since before XBOX.  I think its a great idea.  As stated earlier in this thread, a lot of the games have horrible soundtracks.  I rented Virtua Tennis.   Fun game, god aweful soundtrack.  i would love to be able to play my own tunes while playing.  Same with just about any fighting game.  They all have crap music.
