In all seriousness what do people make of the almost daily hack attacks against gaming websites, log in servers, network servers and the like. As someone working in IT I have seen quite an increase in attacks. DoS attacks are uncommon where I work, but malicious attacks like virus' meant to disrupt anti-virus software from working so key loggers and other such software can get in is common. State systems, Bank databases and the like have been breached for obvious reasons: money and ID theft, but I wonder about the gaming related hacking.

Why do you think gaming has been targeted in particular? Is it so popular that there is a ridiculous amount of personal info to steal? Is there corporate espionage behind the specific sites and services that have been attacked? Is it easy to do as the mainstream will think "So, what it's video games"? Thoughts?

Its just because we trust these companies, these so-called security experts are just having a laugh causing millions of dollars of losses. Plain and simple they feel they are invincible on their computers and it becomes too juicy to just quit so they hack and hack and hack and when the police coming knocking they get a slap on the wrists because of the massive flaws in the law.
