I dont know if this is fully true but MS has been buying (not owning) companies to make exclusives for them. If MS didnt buy Bungie, the Playstation would of had Halo, and if MS didnt buy the rights for Mass Effect, it probably wouldnt be an exclusive. Other than developers that willingly make games for the xbox, MS buys out developers to put their game exclusively on xbox(360). MS has to resort to buying the rights of good games to boost up the 360, if not, there would of been a good chance of those games coming to the ps3.

Please, i put this on the Playstation board so no 360 jack***es will come flaming me. Don't ask why, I know they will.

Unfortunately that's the business world and MS has the most skrilla of them all. I wouldn't say that they have bought out ALL companies, I'm sure there are some that would rather develop for the 360 over the PS3. It still sucks though.

So do you have a question? That's how games work nowdays, if it weren't for exclusives, the only important differences between the consoles would be the Blu Ray player and online.... Sony bought the company that makes Socom.

Because your argument is ridiculous, you are basically saying that it is "unfair" that MS got Halo when you want to play it on the Playstation 3.  Halo was designed ground up for the Xbox, there was enough of a hardware difference last gen to say without a doubt that the PS2 could not have handled the Halo series.  Mass Effect is the product of a solid partnership with Microsoft, you know what they paid?  They paid the price to PUBLISH the game.  You know what publishing is?  Heres an example, there is a game entitled Beowulf (After the Anglo-Saxan epic) that is more or less finished and is being shopped around to PUBLISHERS.  Developers don't pay the prices to mass produce their games, bigger companies do.

Remind me again what Microsoft is doing wrong?

I only own a Playstation 3 but will be buying a 360 when Zephyr hits, I agree with you, its business now.  This is the gen to own them both, I will stick by that statement until the next generation of consoles comes around.  You can't buy just one anymore, both systems have fantastic exclusives that you won't want to miss, I don't care how jaded you are by fanboyism.

golden eye and perfect dark was hot for n64, and rareware made great starfox, kirby, and donky kong games for nintendo until ms bought the company out, now rareware makes games for xbox, but they can't use starfox or kirby or donky kong cuz those charactesr are owned by nintendo. but rareware woulda made great games for nintendo if microsoft wouldn't buy em out.

It doesn't matter how many exclusives that MS buys.  We all know that Sony always gets the best exclusives when it counts.  Lets not forget who still has MGS and Final Fantasy.  They also used to have GTA but that was too big not to make it a multi-platform.  New systems make new developers come around.  No money can match the power of Sony (the king of electronics).

games make the console. it doesn't matter how the games get to the console as long as the get there. it would be nice to see Microsoft get exclusives because developers like/respect the console rather than being bought....but hey, if that's how Microsoft plans to win the console war, more power to them.

I agree with you. If that is how they will win it cool. However I still think that Sony will get their share of exclusives again as they did with the PS2.

You can say what you want but you can't dispute that. Plus we all know that developers like to grow with each new game and as far as I am concerned, those White Boxes of trash are at their peak and the PS3 is operating at 2% (and still running at the same pace as the 360).shawnjfulton

No I believe this is the Fanboy statement of the day.

And umm yes we can dispute it. It's a matter of opinion to that MGS and FF are the best. YOU might think so but lots of others might not. And those "white boxes" of trash are still out selling the PS3 even a 1 1/2 after it launched.

Fanboys really shouldn't post......AT ALL.

Everything you criisize MS for can be said of ALL consoles. Including Sony's. If Kojima hadn't been bought out, MGS4 would be multiplat too. You're basically saying you hate exclusivity. I do to. But putting the blame on Microsoft is just foolish. It's an industry phenomenon.

So you are blaming Microsoft for buying a good company?  I read somewhere(can't remember the website) that Sony employs more developers then MS and Nintendo combined.  With only EA and Ubisoft having more.  Blame Sony for hiring and buying developers that make bland and average games like Genji and Dark Kingdom.  While MS was smart enough to snap up Bungie and Rare.

Well, the good thing is that the japanese developers hold the most power in the gaming world...MS might be able to buy the rights to certain exclusives(or should I say timed exclusives)but they can't actually buy a  japanese developer. I know you heard about all that money they threw at capcom.
