I just played the dark sector demo and I was not impressed. I sit there and aim at the right things to hit with the glaive and have to do it like 15 times just to hit it the correct way. The bad guys were all stiff and they really weren't that smart at all. I holding X to get my guy to run and then pushing X again to hide behind an object was annoying. The first couple times I pushed the button he just rolled forward. That area with the boss at the end was such a rip off from uncharted. I am not talking about the boss himself. I can't believe that there was so much excitement over this game. No offense to those who like but I would wait until something better. gamenerd15
Hmm is it even worth downloading and trying? cus I'm at 20% but now that rogers is limiting me to only 95GB bandwidth per month, I'd rather not waste it. Let me know, thanks

Its pretty easy with the glaive , you just aim it at the enemy then wait til its yellow, thatll give you the most power, then press r2 , you can either do it noramlly or follow it up with your six axis controller, i agree you about the enemies though, they were kind of off putting in this one-, well at least most of them, the boss battles to me are alot of fun though, i kind of liked the game, even though i traded in for condemned 2, it was still real fun while it lasted, everyone entiled to their own opinion though, hopefully you can find something better. :)

First off, since all demos are free, it's always worth it:D
Second, I agree with the TC. My friend and I both bought this game, beat it (all of two days later) and turned it in for credit within a week. The core gameplay isn't entirely flawed, per se, but it's just so dang generic (as the TC pointed out). The AI really is rather stupid, the glaive was a real mixed bag too, imo. It was either underpowered (for regular and against some enemies) or overpowered (once you lit it, electrified it, froze it). And his melee was pathetic (which seems odd, since it consists of smacking others with the glaive directly!). Along the lines of the boss fights, both of us (my friend and I) were extremely disappointed. They were drawn out and made no sense. By made no sense, I don't mean that the fight itself was out of place, just the manner of the fight itself, or the manner in which you take the boss down.
It seems like the trappings were there for something truly great, but the developers got rushed and really didn't take advantage of all they could. The last "upgrade" is a prime example of this (those who played the game know what I mean, the rest will just have to take my word on this as I'm not going to spoil it)
[QUOTE="Iszk"]Probably has something to do with the game itself being bad.ninjaxamsyeah and how exactly is it bad?good job pulling comments outta your ***. its a sound, well put together game...
It's painfully generic. The enemies are bland and stupid, the action is a mixture of Gears of War and RE4, but without any of the white knuckle charm either of those has, and the glaive is flawed. (annoying how often it comes up JUST short on an aftertouch towards the throat) The level design was pretty mixed as well, and the main character is flat out bad. He looks funny, and has poor voice acting. On the whole, it feels like a poor mans imitation of the two games it borrowed from. Of course, thats just my opinion. You can feel free to share a dissenting opinion on any game I like, and I assure you I won't jump on your case and accuse you of lying, they are afterall, just videogames. Peace.
The Demo maybe lackluster but the actual game was GREAT! I've played through it twice and it was a blast to play with awesome boss fights. This game is a must buy for action/shooter fans. Best Buy has it for $49.99timster118
This is one of the few games that actually runs smooth???
Sick graphics/sound and a load of all the goodies.
Uncharted type 3rd person feel
Gears of war sprint
A cover system
Resident evil feel
Alot of Weapons
Many options with the glaive
Big boss fights
COuldnt understand the lackluster story, but the gamplay is better then watching cut scenes.
Eh . . . it wasn't all that terrible. There's nothing earth-shattering about the game but then again most of the word out about this game was pretty much the same: decent combat and visuals with story and A.I. flaws.
Tell you what though, the dualshock/rumble devs earned their money!
I don't know what the demo is like but the real game is awesome. I love it and it's definitely worth a 8.5 - 9.0.Liquid-Prince
Agreed. I think it's definitely an 8.0-8.5.
Didn't like it. Controls are kinda sluggish and why is the X button used for sprinting, dodging and taking cover? That's just bound to be a pain. Also, the only way this could be a more obvious RE4 clone is if the merchant was saying 'whaddya buyin'?' Lastly, like Jeff Gerstmann said on the Bombcast, 'Don't like dude's face', he really looks weird.
Maybe it all gets better over time, but judging from the demo it looks like a derivative Resident Evil clone

Agreed. The controls were nowhere close to being sharp as RE4 controls.

I liked the demo. I'll just wait until a price drop though. Only part I was struggling on was how to brake the gates. I just had to figure it out. Lighting the glaive on fire is interesting too.

thats where i got stuck and just deleted the demo, i do think the game is good though. THe graphics are awesome...
really i think dark sector is a real good game, but its definetly not worth forking over 60 dollars over like i did, lol stupid mistake, i shouldve rent it instead, its more of a rental type of a game, its the kind of game you play once- maybe twice, then never play it again. realistic44
I feel the same way.
It wasn't that great...I got stuck on the bit where you're in an open space with a tent and three doors with a machine gun turret in the corner.Pietrooper
Lol I just got pass that part.
Not really enjoying the game that much so far.
not sure what that BioShockOwnz guy was on, this game was pretty bad. Stupid violence, and shoddy gameplay,, glad i waited for demo instead of wasting time/money renting itsignore
I don't think I was the one who was on something...;) 7.5 isn't considered "pretty bad", btw.
I love this game. I'm actually putting it away until I get my 52" flat panel to really experience it. Really got a rush when I charged a encampment of soldiers who then proceeded to tear me up, I turned and when I dove for cover I just saw that huge mutated monster appear and wipe out all of the remaining soldiers. I was kinda worried about coming out of cover so I just sat there trying to peer around the corner to make sure the monster left.
But for some reason I think the first level's black and white color scheme made things look even better.
