You mean when old NES games where way to difficult to the point of unplayable? Why would anybody miss that. I hated that. Anyone remember Gauntlet or ghouls and ghost? That was not fun. But all 3 of those games are different.
Dark Souls- meant to be difficult and "challenging"
Skyrim- Epic adventure and a bit of grinding like most RPG's
Mass Effect 3- Closer to a epic story(if you can stomach the endings. Even the newest one. That is nothing more then meant to get people to wait for whatever MMO or new series they come out with on the next gen systems).

and this question is silly, you can't put these up against each other there completely different to one another and can't be judged against each other.

All these games are completely different. For starters, ME isn't even an RPG. Dark Souls is challenging and rewarding. Skyrim is massive and breathtaking to behold, but lackluster in actual gameplay. Personally Dark Souls is in a completely different league than the other 2 games, but it's really pointless to compare them.
Dark Souls is amazing. Haven't played ME3 but imagine its pretty good, ME2 was. Skyrim I simply will not purchase, got a pretty good idea what im missing, and dont give a chit.
1st dark souls, to take advantage of the ppl on the servers for online play, then skyrim, then ME3 - note that this is the same order i played them in as well
