Darksiders Gamespot Review - 8.0

Solid score. I'm looking forward to playing it. Game is clearly better than Bayonetta :P

I'm just going to forget that some of the more immature users have created a feud between the games for some silly reason.

It looks interesting, and an 8.0 is a damn solid score. I look forward to my chance to spend some time with it. I have a few issues with how the game looks, namely the fact that the bulky art style does not appeal to me, but many of it's elements certainly look intriguing.

For being the developers first game, I applaud them. I expected a trainwreck.

great score, my brother bought the game so I'll be playing it this weekend when I visit.

It deserved better I think.

I'd buy it but the cover is kind of ugly :P

EDIT: So I just saw the video review, and its good to know that the PS3 version is the superior one for a change

There are games that scored 7.5-8.5 that are more enjoyable than 9.0-10... depends on your preference actually... if people have doubts on getting a game... try demos or rent it at least...

This game deserves much better than it got. the level of scrutiny that its being put under is sad. Bayonetta is not receiving the same kind of scrutiny even though it suffers from the same thing Darksiders does, copying other games. Darksiders is an awesome game, anyone who likes Action/Adventure games should play it.

It's a great game, I'm playing it now. I would have given it a 9 myself but there's nothing wrong with an 8 it's still a good score

The game starts little slow but the more you play it the more it opens up.

Very solid adventure.

It deserved better I think.

P.S. And the fact that the developer managed to squeeze in about 15 hours of single-player campaign shows great effort.

i guess its all opinion, i really like gtaiv, but i haven't got darksiders. by the way, dont you think its annoying how people refer to a game nowadays which scored an 8.0 or even 8.5 as an average game. i guess theres alot of games recently scoring 9.0's and 9.5's but still, i would always take 80% on a math test or something.

I think an 8.0 is about what I'd give the game as well. I don't know about the game having unresponsive controls, though...it seems to control fine for me, though I agree withthe complexity of some of the commands. GameSpot listed one example, so I'll list another: using your spells is something that could have been handled better. You have to hold L1 to use any spell or item that's mapped to your face button. The problem with this is that you can't really lock-on to your target unless you use your middle finger to lock-on to the enemy (the L2 button has to be held down), and your index finger to hold L1. Maybe it's just me, but I'm not accustomed to using my middle finger to press the shoulder buttons. It's just easier to not lock-on, butyou might get hit with something that's not in your view.

I wasn't trying to incite a War (get it!?) between Darksiders and Bayonetta, but rather make a cute little joke about the squabbles this board has seen recently between the two games. I just thought it was unfair for some people to claim Bayonetta was garbage and automatically state Darksiders was superior when the games weren't even out yet. In any case, I have Darksiders in my possession and plan on playing it and enjoying the heck out of it. Who knows, I could end up liking Darksiders more, but I'll save my judgement for when I finish the games.

The score is what I expected, and I'm happy with that, so I'll rent it when I have time :)

Darksiders actually looks a lot more interesting - at least it's 50% exploring and puzzle solving, and not just constant combat. And the environments look much more artistic. I just find Bayonetta sooooooooooo incredibly derivative. Other than the cutesy anime style, there's nothing there I'm even remotely interested in. I actually got bored watching the review.

And it's a bit of a no-brainer: Darksiders is superior on the PS3, while Bayonetta is inferior. Oh, nice to see Gamespot docking a point from the PS3's Bayonetta score, but not taking anything off the Xbox's Darksiders score, even though the reviewer seems to think there are a LOT of problems with the Xbox version. Oh yeah, there's absolutely no favoritism there.

This game is bringing back memories from Zelda ocarina of time for me lol.

Ummm ps. Have fun with that aerial predator trophy. Took me a good hour+ to get the 160 kills on the angelic demon.

The two Bayonettas scored a whole point apart whereas the two Darksiders didn't even score half a point apart, despite the PlayStation 3 having none of the technical issues that the Xbox 360 has according to the review. Strange.

darksiders is awesome so far. I've only beaten one dungeon but I see a lot of potential. Bayonetta is flat out incredible. They're really hard to compare though since one is mostly adventure with some action, and one is pure action with very little exploration. I prefer the constant action IMO with levels packed with bosses and unique mobs.

It's not a bad game, but I just have to disagree with you based on my tastes and my expectations. BTW, both games on PS3 scored an 8.0.

clearly nobody trusts gamespots reviews anymore because they are consistently LOW compared to the average metacritic score... which happens to be an 8.7 right now even with IGNs **** 7.8 score, and gamespots low score due to the reviewer being totally FAIL at games. seriously watch the review.... the guy sucks.Roland123_basic

!! my bad! well anyways, I agree with the review I just think that darksiders deserved a 8.5 and bayonetta 9.0. I mean I know the bayonetta 360 version was scored a 9.0 but regardless of the issues I think the ps3 version deserved that as well, the game is incredible!

the only thing I dislike about darksiders so far is jumping. If you've played the game you will probably understand what I mean.
