DBZ on PS3

I was just checking out the screens for the new DBZ title on PSP.... Got me to wondering... how long do you think til we see a DBZ game released on PS3?

I'm thinking mid to late 2008... what do u guys think?

Well with blu-ray and the power of PS3, maybe they can get it to look EXACTLY like the show instead of cell shaded polygons and polygon stages. I want to feel like I'm playing the show I watch on my TV. Cell shaded polygons with generic polygon worlds seem out of place.

Yeah, and have ALL sagas starting from Dragon Ball when Goku first met Bulma, right up to the end of (*sigh*) GT

Those mock quests in the first Budokai kinda bugged me though. I'm a fan and tend to be technical, so if they were to make any alternate story lines, PLEASE FOLLOW THE RULES. I remember Vegeta's quest where he won the fight against Goku on earth and then he magically turns Super Saiyan?! I mean come on, there was no way even if he did won, he could turn Super Saiyan cause of it. It took him like 5 and a half years to even reach Super Saiyan, and it was out of desperation. I dunno, makes me laugh but gets my goat a bit at the same time when I think about it:P

Yea... whatever they do I hope they do something refreshing... especially moving to next gen. Even the PSP title is pretty much the same game we played 2-3 times last gen.

Not so sure on that one... I actually liked the graphical touch on the last few games. I am hoping for a graphical upgrade on the next one though. Although I don't want it to look like the cartoon... I'd just rather see some next gen cel shade effects or something... Basically I want to see it have more graphical flare than the cartoon has too it... like a Pixar DBZ game or something.

Yea, I think that'd probably be a good idea. Wonder if they'd follow up on it. The DBZ universe is a good one for online.

How can you make something like anime (2D unless they're robots) work in a 3D world though? It'd be cool... but it'd be like playing paper mario (atleast... how I think anyway).

Still, a proper "all" sagas thing would be cool... So would a like Mortal Kombat battle royal over a planet like namek :P . Hell... That makes me want a MMO of DBZ :P (But they'd mess it up)

Yea, I'm kind of worried that the first game they release on the PS3 probably won't be all that hot. Just b/c they'll probably need time to really make something that's fresh from the past series' and still takes advantage of the hardware. But I sure do hope they take it to the next level...

I haven't seen any DBZ since GT (there may still be new episodes but I really only watched it with my lil bro)... might be cool if they picked up on the story arc after GT if it was actually a good story. I just think there's so much more they could still do with the franchise.

But I do also agree that a properly done "All Sagas" game would be pretty cool too. Also be the type of thing to boost sells in Japan ;-)

No the thing is, you don't make it a polygon looking world. They've come close to it before on a laser disk Japanese system in the early 90's with a Dragon Ball game. You decide what happens, but there is no direct control, but it is possible.

Figure this, Street Fighter sprites are drawn and animated right? The world doesn't have to be polygons, cause it isn't on the show. It'd might take a little more work, but you can still draw the surroundings, still approachable, not look like paper Mario. Closest example I can come up with, Okami. Like the stage could be drawn in different parts, made to look like the actual show instead of things being out of place. Like things won't be made flat. I dunno, kinda hard to explain with a headache:P

They can make the cartoons, but you're in direct control of the character (which animated like the show) it and it doesn't have to be a 2D flat veiw.

That would be intresting, create your own characters would be an awesome part of it. But the thing that would trouble me though, the place would be infested with annoying kids. Us Adult Dragon Ball fans tend to be a rare breed, and kids online usually annoy the crap out of me.:x

Lol, yea. But by the time a game like this came out, Home would make it easy to play with your friends vs. a bunch of random kids.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Atari currently holds the DBZ license right? Their company is barely surviving, DBZ probably the only good license it still has. Atrari is just not financially fit for making a next gen game in my opinion. With the costs of developing for next gen games being so high, I doubt that we will see this game anytime soon.bsin94

It stands to reason that they will have to make a next gen game at some point. If you look at my original post, you'll see that I don't estimate one would come out before mid- 2008. All devs will be working on next gen projects by the end of 2008.

Man I worked out how a DBZ MMORPG would work a long time ago..

8 different races or so with all the main ones represented to chose from..

Every race has its own planet and pros\cons.

The point of the game would be total domination of the galaxy by a certain race.. Like you would get 50 changlings and invade the planet namek.. But the thing is each planet has their own protector as seen in the toons(or comics).

Like Namek would have piccolo and Nail as a protector. 

Like Saiyens would be more powerfull than humans off course but humans have the Z fighters to protect their planet and learn techniques from!

I think that would be a good setting for a single player game OR an MMO actually...  that's just the direction that the games need to go in period. Awesome idea.

I never knew they where making a MMO i just made this idea up a long time ago.. And RTS?..

It would just be like a clan vs clan battle pvp style.. 

In my idea it would just be a while after dbz or gt with everybody going their own way.. 

DBZ Budokai 3 was great...

But then they make those Tenkaichi ...sh**

I wouldn't be surprised if you saw one this year,Atari like to show out more DBZ titles than elephant pooblacktorn

I doubt we'd get one as early as this year. I don't think Atari is financially poised for next gen development that quickly.
