Anyone else picking this up/waiting for the reviews to pick it up? I watched some gameplay -- if enough people pick it up for the PS3, I most likely will. Anyone else?

I played the beta for a bit and I enjoyed it. Granted there were some kinks that still needed to be worked out, but overall I thought it was very well done. I would get it if it weren't for the $15 Monthly Fee on top of the $60 retail price :P
Yeah, the lifetime subscription definitely seems to be the way to go. You basically pay for 13 months up front and then you're in forever. Pretty sweet deal, I'd say.Had a great time in Beta, plan on playing PvE and PvP. I purchased the CE for the PC and am getting lifetime sub.

I was planning on getting the lifetime sub. until I found out only PC users can get it. :( Oh well, paying monthly isn't too bad, and I'm still super psyched for this game!
I'm still curious how an MMORPG can possibly work with a controller. Wouldn't you need some sort of a keyboard to... communicate with people? I doubt every single PS3 user is willing to use a headset to talk to everyone in the whole game.

That is the one thing I am worried about in the game. I mainly plan on playing with friends and am assuming there will be some party system so you can only talk to your party (hopefully). And I am pretty sure you can use the little keyboard pop up thing playstation uses, but that would be extremely tedious and probably get old fast.

Exactly, same here. I'm not going to use my index finger to punch in words letter by letter on that insanely small keyboard, and besides, you need to be able to type super quickly, I'm assuming, in various encounters throughout the game (much like raids in WoW). I just have no idea how this is gonna work. I guess I'll sit tight for the review.day 1 i love mmo genre, i didnt get on the beta but im just going to get it any way i hear alot of good things and i have to stayin all weekend next week so theres some thing to do lol, also i belive the genre is getting its first propper chance on a console and think they are going to make more mmos we need to support lol
Had this one preordered since day 2 of the beta. Can't wait to get my hands on this game. The beta was so much fun!jnjreams76Same I played the Beta and realized I needed to get this game. I cannot wait it is just the game I need to compliment my other games.

Phantasy Star Online? Final Fantasy 11? On topic: I'd love to get this but I'm not sure how well it's going to work on a controller, and I don't think it's coming out on Mac sadly.

you haven't played FF11, have you. *sigh*... It's nothing like previous FFs- in fact, it plays a lot like other MMOs.
Newaiz.
I was in the beta, and I would get it, if not for time constraints, other games in my backlog and the suscription fee.

played the beta :
pros :
- good character customization
- good levelling system
- good equipment system
- interesting mission system : most of the time a story arc (themed missions leading to a boss fight), often some NPCs in the zone giving additional mission, exploration missions will give XP and equipment, exploring can give talent points you can use to buy powers
- some combos with weapons use the element you chose for powers, your powers generally use the dominant color of your costume
- having most NPCs voiced is good for getting into the world and atmosphere
- main story, making Brainiac as enemy of heroes and villains, and spawning lots of new superpowerd beings, is a nice touch
- costume change with different styles you get when getting equipment is awesome (and designs of the weapons too), and you can change colors when you want
cons :
- communication on PS3 is very limited if you don't use a keyboard, using the "virtual keyboard" is clumsy and takes time, preset phrases are no use (hello, victory, going to Metropolis ... using a macro like "I'm Green Hornet, lvl 8 gadgets/firearms hero, looking for team" doesn't seem difficult to do and absolutely necessary to find groups easily)
-limited layout of powers (6) can make getting new powers difficult as you can assign only 6, even if you can have "specialisations" (tank, controller ...) that you can change with up on Dpad, but only outside combat (making it usable in combat would be good)
- being used to MMOs won't help, as gameplay is action oriented, with dodging and parrying in real time ; parrying seems futile when you have 5 opponents, as when you'll hit one the other four will hit you anyway, so you'll parry only during boss fights
- Watchtower map is difficult to grasp (but may come after some time)
I haven't read much about this game and was turned off by the monthly fee but I'm still very interested to see how character creation works. If there are a broad range of character types that are all useful in some way, not just thousands of people making one of a few super strong builds, then it could regain my interest.
any guys on the fence with this game that havent played the beta, theres a hands on hour long vid on here. obvs dont need to watch the full thing but it shows the guy starting out creating char and then his first hours game play this should push people to thje game that are thinking about it. sadly the fee seems to be stopping alot of gamers :( understandably though
I enjoyed the game but i thought the PS3 version was so buggy though. It froze my PS3 so many times Im sure they fixed a few bug fixes though. Im also not feeling the price they are asking for to play per month.
I might still get it though i have to see how the game does.

It's better on a controller than k/b & mouse... And I don't know about Phantasy Star Online, but it is WAAAY better than Final Fantasy XI.pre-ordered it as soon as I could, loved the Beta, especially after they upgraded the UI, I'll get it tomorrow, can't wait for it, easely the best console MMORPG ever
I would love to get this game. Played the beta and found it decent. However The social scares me to death. How the heck r u gonna communicate with other ppl? There is no way im typing with the virtual keyboard and im sure most ppl don't always want to be on their head sets.
I envy all you guys playing this game right now. I wish I could be on there too.
Just no time for an MMO right now. Right after christmas too dammit.
I was in the beta since it was available on PS3 and I have to admit, it's a very good game for anyone who enjoys DC.
I have spent a lot of time perfecting different characters in character creation menu alone. At around level 8-9 you do have to group up, solo play from that point on is not recommended, after all it's a MMO.
In this time and age, every MMO is trying to copy or overthrow World of Warcraft, it's great to see DC Universe be its own game and follow its own gameplay design. I'm not much into MMO's anymore but from my experience in 18+ years, I truthfully enjoyed DC Universe beta.
If I had time to actually devote myself to full time MMO, it would be a good choice.

No way, it controls much better with keyboaed and mouse. its not even close... But its more playable then most mmos with a gamepad.[QUOTE="L1D3N"]Yeah, the lifetime subscription definitely seems to be the way to go. Wow, I have never heard of such things called Lifetime subscription. Do all mmorpgs today offer this service? And what was the first mmo to introduce it? This is actually the only game I ever heard of doing this. I also heard that it may only be available for the PC version.I was exactly like you and I was waiting to see but I thought fk it, if everybody waits nobody will be on so I just went and preordered it from GAME online with free preorder dlc for $89 delivered to my door on launch. Dam Australian release dates making us wait but patches will be done by then hopefully so im jumping in to start my career as a supervillain.... What is the game like on PS3 say compared to WOW (which I have played for 4 years). Is it populated or like Dalaran since Cata has come out? PSN : OG1 KENOBIAnyone else picking this up/waiting for the reviews to pick it up? I watched some gameplay -- if enough people pick it up for the PS3, I most likely will. Anyone else?
