DC Universe Online Issues and Discussion

Hello friends.

So I am new to MMO's... never played one before. I've been playing DCU:O for the last hour or so and I am in love. I am huge DC fan and a huge video game fan so this seems to be tailor made for me. However I don't know jack about MMO's, so it has been pretty much a single player game for me so far but I see a bunch of super heroes flying around. So if any of you guys have any tips on how to party up and stuff let me know, or add me on PSN if you are playing DCU:O and lets slay some villains.

Ok, so here is the chunk of the thread, the issues with the beta. Leave them on here and I will try to keep the thread updated.

Here are the issues so far:

Very small text on a HDTV in the menues

Erratic frame rate

Confusing party system (for me at least)

Freezing problems

Menu system rotates slowly

NPC's sometimes have incorrect voices (female doctors with male voices, etc)

Randomly restarts PS3

The 15GB install is killing me!

Hopefully it won't take more than three hours before I can actually start playing the game. I knew that initial download was suspiciously small. :(

Holy crap... I didn't know it was installing, I got bored of waiting after 30 mins and turned the ps3 off lol. But wow 15gb...

How long did it take you to download it?

Mine was downloading for an hour but it didn't move much so I quit.

Is it like any demo where you can pause downloads and resume from the same point at a later date or do I have to download the whole thing in one shot?

Yeah as soon as you start install the game you get a message for an "update" which is the full monstrous beta.

For all that dont know, if you have PS Plus you can get the beta now.

Cons:

It took me the whole day to get it downloaded and running.

Experienced lag and freezing.

Combat and gameplay is repetitive.

Text on screen hard to read even with a 40' and up HDTV.

Communicating with other players can be combersome, but that's with most games.

Pros:

Great looking cinematics.

I like the customizations.

I like leveling up and unlocking new abilities and items.

Play as a superhero with superpowers.

Overall, I think the game is fun but it's not fun enough for me to pay for a subscription. I know it's just a beta and it should get better, so I hope the game does well so there would be more MMOs on consoles I can check out since I don't game on the PC, but it'll be a pass for me.

I've only played for a couple of hours but have yet to experience any freezing or incorrect voiceovers. I'm also having no trouble reading the text on a 32' LCD. However, I've yet to see another single player in game! Anyone had this issue??

Damn I missed the spots for a key.

I can download it free because I'm a PS+ member but it's 15GB...That is a crapload of extra bandwidth this month.

I downloaded mine overnight without any issues. When I went to bed I was getting 6-10 MB/s so it probably took like 4-6 hours. I'll try to log on later today or possibly not til tomorrow night.

My apologies for super low quality, can't hold the damn webcam still. :P

But anyhow, that says 490th in line, estimated wait 29 minutes...

Anyone else having problems logging in?

Thank goodness for my internet speed. It only took me 2 hours to finish downloading. On another note, I'd like to know what your heroes/villians are here. I just went with a simple hero.

47 minutes later I still have 15 minutes left on the ETA.... That ETA timer is pretty terrible.. Oh well I guess I have a PSP for a reason. :P Still this is going to be over an hour wait to get online... Also, Name: ExoDust Powers: Ice Movement: Flying Don't really like Ice so far... MethodManFTW

The freezing and locking up my PS3 is what is bothering me the mosthiryu3
