I love the game, it's a perfect first MMOTotalgym9000
Agreed. If you've never played an MMO before you'll probably find this quite enjoyable. I hadn't played one either prior to this and thoroughly enjoyed the 1st free month. However, after maxing two characters to the current level cap the novelty certainly wore off. There just isn't much to do once that cap is reached. I had expected monthly updates from the developers and the only 'expansion' released thus far certainly doesn't justify the cost of a subscription.
I'll probably jump back in a few months once there's been a couple of updates... hopefully decent ones.
Also, be warned: once you purchase DCUO it cannot be resold nor can it be traded. Needless to say, don't try and purchase a used copy.

Can the game really not be transferred? I know the 30 day sub is a one time use, but another person can't take the game disc and just pay the monthly fees to play?[QUOTE="volume_three"][QUOTE="Totalgym9000"]I love the game, it's a perfect first MMOjnjreams76

Can the game really not be transferred? I know the 30 day sub is a one time use, but another person can't take the game disc and just pay the monthly fees to play? Yea they can. You can purchase a used copy but you must also buy at least the $15 for the month to pay as well. So you pay twice if you buy a used copy over a new one. Simply, used or new, you can still play DC Universe. You CAN resell the game itself if you want[QUOTE="jnjreams76"][QUOTE="volume_three"]Can the game really not be transferred? Save your money. I loved the game at first to be honest...but it has no depth. after about 2-3 weeks you start to say to yourself "Whats going to keep me hooked to this game?" and the answer is nothing. Its a very shallow MMO. Its almost like a normal multiplayer game that you play with people on PSN...Here is my list of issues with the game:
CONS:
1) Metropolis and Gotham are plain boring. There is nothing to see in them besides do your questing...they are very bland looking and add zero depth to the game. And add to the fact there are NO day/night cycles. So Gotham is always dark, Metropolis is always light.
2) There is zero communication in the game. Do you want to use a headset? Good luck, because sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt. 99% of the time I would have to restart my PS3 2-3 times before the Mic would work...same with my friend. Also, noone uses a wireless keyboard in the game. So if you want to play a game for communication, you wont find it here.
3) Too easy to level. You can literaerly hit the level cap (30) in a week....PLAYING CASUALLY. If you are hardcore and play 5-6+ hours a day, you can probably hit it in a few days. Even when WoW released, it would take a LONG TIME to level to the cap (60). My first WoW character took me about 25 days PLAYED time. Not actual days...actual 24 hour cycles...so yea a long time. This game probably takes 1-2 days/played to hit 30.
4) Still very buggy. This is common in new MMO's, but still I have to list it.
5) End game conent stinks. It has end game content dont get me wrong, but its a pain trying to get a group together...or even a PVP instance. You can sit in queues for an HOUR! Also, when you group up, since communication is so bad in the game, there are members of the group who are the wrong class/spec. Its very annoying.
6) Horribly repedative. Again, another big fault with MMO's, but I had to list it.
PROS:
1) I love the fighting. Its very beat em up fast action with cool effects...
2) Character customization is pretty good and fun to do, its a blast trying out new characters.
3) Your movement abilities are kickass. My favorite is Super speed, its a ton of fun to use.
4) CGI and cutscenes are pretty cool, especially in an MMO, its great to see them add singleplayer type of content in an MMO.
Overall:
It fails horribly as an MMO, but its pretty fun as a normal game...the problem is you have to pay 15 bucks a month ON TOP of the 60 for this "normal multiplayer game". All of the features you would find in an MMO are lacking. When I played WoW, I had a blast just talking to people, grouping up or whatever...This game takes all the fun of an MMO and leaves it as an afterthought. If anything I would wait a few months to see how the communitiy is doing...I dont think this game will last long.

This is wrong. You cannot trade in a single MMO. When you buy the game NEW, there is a code on the manual that you need to register with PSN in order to activate your copy. Once that code is used, you cannot ever use it again. When you buy an MMO, you are paying for that code, not the actual game. All MMO's I know of let you download the game for free, but once you want to buy it, you buy that code from them. (ie: WoW, EQ2 etc).

Actually you are indeed right. You must purchase a new copy in order to play DC at all. Consider it just like EA Online Pass for Madden, just that you do not have the opportunity to buy it online via PSN. The activation code that comes with every new purchase activates the game for use on that system, without it and you have a brick of a game. In short, you need a NEW copy to enjoy DC Universe. Look at it this way, if you were to buy it used it would go for no cheaper than $35 bucks, on top of that the month subscription thats already $60. Might as well get a new copy for $50 (some stores sell at that price) and get the month already. I was mistaken on my previous post, my bad. Thanks for the advice, i think ill will steer clear but all the trailers look awesomewinatron
Thats because the trailer IS awesome lol. Its fun for a few weeks but thats it...Then you soon realize it cant hold your attention much longer. Marvel Universe would have been so much better btw ;)
