So a Dead Island sequel has been announced - full title is Dead Island Riptide. Here's a link.

Hopefully it won't take as long to be made as Dead Island :P

I really enjoyed Dead Island, and it was my most anticipated game of all time at one point, so I really hope the sequel addresses the issues within Dead Island and isn't such a rough experience. Can't wait!

Okay, but, I swear if I didn't find a gun until 4 hours into the game on this one...

Pumped for this, I hope they keep it largely the same, fix some of the minor glitches and problems with the first, but still super excited

I was really surprised by that. Given that the first was so heavily plagued by bugs, I couldn't imagine it actually sold all that well. Did they ever get around to patching all the issues with the PS3 version? Once I read some of the reviews on Amazon, people irate about the game deleting saved files (or failing to save in the first place) and all the auto-saving lag, and how the first patch or two solved none of the problems and possibly made things worse, I pretty much steered clear of the game. Was that ever remedied? Also, I noticed a 'Game of the Year' Edition with all the DLC is coming out in a couple months. Was the DLC worthwhile?

I never had major issues with the game. I know they were still doing patches when I was done with it, so I imagine all significant issues have been dealt with. And I'm pretty excited about this, though I think it will be a while before it's released. I thought the first one was great despite some problems. I think they'll do better this time around.

The whole point of the game was focusing on melee combat, gunplay was never that satisfying anyway, so the more chances I got to swing a blunt or sharp melee weapon than shoot a handgun, I took it.

I'm personally surprised they announced a sequel so quickly. I mean, Dead Island was released only last year. Anyway, I think the game is great fun so a sequel is welcome.

I had a big issue with the saving bug, but it could be avoided by simply playing offline, and since I only play single player I didn't have any recurring problems around lost data. However, it should have been fixed now, because I got the game on the first day of release hence the reason I encountered the problem. The only DLC I played was the Ryder White campaign, and unfortunately it wasn't much fun because it was extremely difficult.

i never got around to playing the bloodbath arena but the rydier story one was really good to filled in the villain side and shows more it takes around 4 to 5 hours if one looks for the hidden recordings but the sad part is that he doesn't level up or has any skill trees he just comes in at level 15 and stays at that level.

Sadly, that seems to be true for a lot of people: they bought it shortly after release and pushed through the game despite the bugs, so if it was ever fully patched, it happened after they'd beaten the game and moved on, so they can't comment on whether or not the game was ever fully patched. Though, I'd imagine that, at this point, the game is as patched as it's ever going to be and I'll just have to hope they fixed the saving issue. Even though the DLC doesn't sound especially worthwhile, I might still buy the Game of the Year Edition in the hopes it's already patched to the latest version. I don't have any desire to play online, but I'd really like to play the game co-op with my brother via LAN. But it'd suck mightily to have the game not save our progress.

Agreed, it would be really nice to be able to clear an area some how, there can really only be a finite amount of people on an island.

Me too. It's what kinda turned me off the game. I loved it at first but after a while it became a grind and I had to force myself to finish it. Hopefully they don't rush this and it turns out well.

I wouldn't have minded the zombie respawns if they actually were different each time. Problem was, after a while I would know the exact location a group of zombies or a Thug enemy would be, so if I wanted to, I knew which ways to avoid a confrontation. That was disappointing to see.
