if you want a scary game then either F.E.A.R. 2 or Dead Space are some good scary games. also F.E.A.R. 3 and Dead Space 2 are coming out soon too and they look really good so far.
Nah dead space isnt scary at all, i havent jumped once even in my first playthrough. although it is a really great survival horror game and a must buy for any survival horror fan.
if you want scary id advise you to play siren blood curse, because that to me is the scariest game on the ps3.

Dead Space is the scariest game I've ever played. The atmosphere is too perfect. Not to mention the absolutely repulsive and terrifying creatures. Seriously, they're gruesome.

Games can be unsettling which is kinda what Dead Space is like but I would in no way call it a scary game. It's a good game with some nice replay value but as far as being scary or a survival horror game for that matter, it just isn't. It's more like a third person shooter with a horror theme.

I think a proper Dolby Digital surround system is also a big factor in making Dead Space scary or not. I was thoroughly creeped out when I played it on my 5.1 system, and I'm in my 30's, but when I showed it to my friend with just tv sound it was actually quite weak in the fright department.

True that, if you want to be properly immersed in the atmosphere, you gotta have good sound, and play at night with the lights off. For the most part though, I'd say it has 'surprise' elements rather than actually being freaky/scary. But like someone else said, Siren: Blood Curse....that....now that **** is freaky. You know how in the XMB, when you highlight your game disc image, you sometimes get a change in background and what not depicting the game? Well, Siren has that too...and that's where the freakyness begins....

Lol either you are heartless or you just played the game infront of your parents,family lights on and in day because that game is **** scary lol (so is siren blood curse ;p)
It will make you jump every once and a while and your heart might pump a little quicker on some parts but it isnt something that keeps you up at night.
