Demon Souls Question (Possible Spoilers for those that have not finished it)

So i killed sage freak after i got everything i wanted and took his robes, but i noticed lately that when i had either my talisman or catalyst out i have this red flame that kind of shoots up from my neck in the back for some reason. I have never noticed that before, anyone else ever had that before? Just curious

Are you using the Ring of Avarice?, it creates that red aura over your head. (or any other effect that makes you gain more souls, lets say, Soul Thirst)
