Demons Souls PS3 game of the year?

I don't understand this, Demons Souls got a 9.0/10 but uncharted 2 got a 9.5/10 yet Gamespot has Demons souls winning ps3 game of the year over uncharted 2? That makes not sense. And so does this mean U2 has no shot of winning game of the year on gamespot even though it is higher than DS? It would be ridiculous to have DS win ps3 game of the year but U2 win over all game of the year. i dont know. Anyway, sound off on what you think.

Ps. Ive played uncharted 2 and it is amazing! I have not play DS so im not bashing it, Gamespots decision just doesn't make sense to me if they base their picks off of highest rated.

It's qualified and has the right to win, just like Uncharted 2 and the other great games!

I know this is just opinion, but Demon souls should get it. Uuncharted is a sequel. A very excellent and well done game, but i feel Demon Souls is more innovative. DS has at least done something completely new with online.

I guess you just have to ask yourself what you look for in a GOTY. To me it needs to be fresh, innovative, and done well (gameplay/graphically). It needs to have all 3 of these things. To me Demon souls does this better than Uncharted2

Lol Demon's Souls deserved it, it's an amazing game but i personally still had more fun with U2.

Demon's Souls does not deserve it imo. I've played it for several hours and I just didn't like it. The combat was boring and so was the level design/art style. Also having next to no story doesn't help very much. I thought the whole trial-and-error portion of the game where if you die you restart the whole level was really stupid because you're going to die cheap deaths throughout the entire game unless you memorize every level and where each enemy is. Knowing a skeleton is right around the corner every single time you walk through the same hallway is not fun. Neither is knowing exactly when a barrel will fall on your head and kill you after playing the level for 30 minutes.

I'm not specifically saying Uncharted 2 deserves this (although it does), but I think every other game nominated should've beat out Demon's Souls for GotY.

Yup, even though i enjoyed Demon's souls and Uncharted 2 equally,imo the only reason they gave it PS3 GOTY is because Uncharted 2 is the getting GOTY.

Demon's Souls is certainly a deserving winner, but I did enjoy Uncharted 2 more. I thought it was going to win for sure. My personal GOTY was Ratchet and Clank, but I knew it had no chance of winning. Also enjoyed Batman: AA more than DS and UC2.

Demon's Souls is my personal RPG of the year and Uncharted 2 is my favorite game of the year.

I have no objections with Demon's Souls winnings but I do understand that everyone have their own tastes.

Barrels, rocks, head, back, cliffs, same thing. And no matter how many times people say "it's not cheap" I will disagree. Personally I thought the game tested my patience more than it tested my skill. I'm not saying it's impossible to have fun with the game because when I played it I did have fun with it for a while until I died and had to restart the entire level. Then the fun instantly stopped. Maybe some people can look past that and like the "challenge" of the game. If I was dedicated I could easily play through the whole game, but I can see myself getting extremely frustrated with the game because I don't want to have to run through the entire level over and over again because of some stupid part of the level.
